Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City, OK(Zone 7a)

Well, we know where we're heading now. The Air Force is sending us to Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City, OK. We're supposed to be there by mid-July.

Gracious, but we have a lot to do before then. God is awesome, though, and will see us through all of it, including selling our house in 3 months (which is tough to do down here).

We are very excited, nervous, happy, anxious, sad, pleased and on and on...

Keep us in your prayers.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

oh my!!! that's a long way from here. So glad you're coming to the FL swap!!!

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Carla I was wondering the other day if you had ever found out where you where moving. At least now you know what to expect and can make plans. I hope you have good luck in selling your home and are happy in your new one. Take care.

Am praying for your move to go smoothly. It is difficult to live with uncertainty, and I'm glad that you have a plan now and can implement it in the prayerful, calm and capable manner I see you (through your DG posts) coping with everything in life. God bless you and your family.

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Oh Carla....do I remember those days of military moving!!!
I kind of miss it a little, although, I wouldn't give up my retired life here anymore. lol It is always exciting to find out where your going on a move, except when it's to someplace like Minot, ND. yuk!

So your going to have to learn all about a new zone to garden in, right? You'll have to give Ted a holler and ask him all about Oklahoma gardening. Do you plan on taking alot of your plants with you? How about all those bulbs you just planted...yikes!

Is your DH a flyer? If I remember right, Tinker is a big flying base.

I wish you so much good luck with your move and I hope it is rainging on the day you move too. The military saying goes "If it's raining on moving day, your move will be a good one". Have you ever heard that saying?

Keep us informed and let us know if there is anything plant wise we can help you with.

Donna (retired AF wife) lol

So soon!! We will miss you Carla - I gsess this means you won't be coming to our swap May31st. It would be nice to see you one more time, not that you'll need any more plants then. Just to have a final hug would be great!!

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Good luck Carla.Sounds like a good move.Hope y'all get settled in without much trouble.

Oklahoma City, OK(Zone 7a)

I'll still be coming to the swap, PJ, although it will be to get rid of plants, not take any more. :)

Many of my plants are going to my mother and my mother in law, although some will find their way to DGers. As for everything I've planted here, I regret none of it. I'm passing along God's blessings and am very happy to do so. Plus, all of the landscaping will help our house to sell better. (hee hee)

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

you have a great attitude about it!!! and I'm real glad you're going to be able to come to PJ's house, we'll have time for long hugs.

Crossville, TN

Good luck, Carla....you're getting closer to me all the time! LOL Jo

Smiln;
We used to live in Oklahoma City and wasn't all that far from Tinker Air Force Base there in Midwest City. Could always hear the jets flying over when they was doing practice runs; made the ole windows rattle.
Best of luck to you.

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

I'm really glad too - it's only about a 2 hr drive and I know every one is anxious to meet you.

Oklahoma City, OK(Zone 7a)

Thanks, dear. It will be so good to see you and tiG again, too. It messes up my plans for any of the roundups, though. Too much to do, most likely. Perhaps I can get together with the TX bunch this fall or something. :)

Wewoka, OK(Zone 7a)

Carla - will be great to have you in Oklahoma. I live about 70 miles SE of OKC; maybe we will have a chance to get acquainted. Hope your move goes smoothly and you get settled into your new digs quickly and easily. Best wishes & talk to you soon

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

Carla, everything's gonna be just great. We have 2 get togethers this fall, and one is only a 4 hour drive for you from OK City. Oklahoma is one of the most beautiful states you will ever see. Your family will dearly lover their parks and recreation! Come see me if you get the chance. The door's always open.

Thanks, folks. You are all so wonderful. At least I'm not changing zones too drastically. :) Zone 8a to zone 7a. I will enjoy getting together with everyone, too. I'll miss my SE DG pals, though. Booo hoooo.
