Our childhood pictures - Part 2

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

My greatgrandfather Paty and his brother. GGF got a pension from the army because he was disable because he rode a horse from Tn. to Mexico to fight in the war. That's GGF on the right. Can you image if I had to ride a horse with these long legs of mine. I would have sore toes.

What a fascinating history! Yes, I imagine he WAS disabled after that ride!

Penfield, NY(Zone 6a)

What the heck. My sister just got a scanner and sent this one of me with her dog. Sad story the dog was run over by her English teacher. His name was Jiggs. Broke her heart. Location was Rodeo CA . Circa 1949.

Oh, that's a cute picture -- and a sad story about Jiggs. You don't look too happy about being photographed, trillium_girl!

MERCER, PA(Zone 5a)

LOL..Not to be disrespectful Trillium, did you notice that you and Jiggs have the same expression on your mouths? !!!LOL :O)

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Yes, you do! I love the saddle shoes. :)

That's so funny...I went back and looked closer and it's twoo, it's twoo! :)

Penfield, NY(Zone 6a)

You know what they say about people and their dogs starting to look alike. There you go. I started at a young age. Actually I probably wasn't too happy posing for my big sister as she was always making my life miserable. Once she pulled down my pants in the grocery store and ran away leaving me there screaming for my ma!

Dover, NH(Zone 5a)

What a great pic! :)

Northern Piedmont, NC(Zone 7b)

My favorite picture from my childhood...I call it 'Mom and Me'. We were in Raleigh visiting the Capitol on a Sunday afternoon and had just bought a bag of peanuts from the Peanut Man. I was trying to coax the pidgeons to come closer.

Great pic, Jean! Was that at the Capitol Bldg? Or was the Botanical Garden created in Raleigh at that time? Great place to go wander, eh?

Oh, I can sure see why that's your favorite childhood photo. What volumes it speaks about the relationship of a mother and child.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

I like that. :)

Crossville, TN

Great picture! Brings back memories of when we used to get all dressed up for a Sunday Outing. Jo

Dover, NH(Zone 5a)

Another great photo! So many wonderful memories here for everyone!

Northern Piedmont, NC(Zone 7b)

Thanks everyone! It's really special to me. Shoe, yes it was taken at the Capitol. The pic scanned a bit fuzzy, but you can just make out one of the monuments in the upper left. Did you mean JC Ralston Arboretum? I think that was in the mid 70's.

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Yep, Jean...that is what I was thinking of. Thanks. ( I get confused sometimes...there is a Botanical Garden just outside Chapel Hill, which is certainly not the same as the Ralston Arboretum.)

Again, Great pic...hope you have it framed somewhere!
