Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

I've enjoyed this thread so much! Thanks Rudbekia for starting it off.
Everyone looks so cute....The first pic is one of my mom fishing on the warf of our camp. I love this picture, my brother and I are in the boat behind her. The last picture is of my brother, myself (flashing the peace sign..lol) and my sister holding up the catch of the day. Check out the clothes..lol..we were po'folks.

Adorable, oh my the "peace sign" what memories that conjures up LOL!

These are great, Lisa. The peace sign! Oh, yes, that DOES conjure memories.

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

I was mom and dads hippie poster child. Drove 'em nuts, the others were all smart and in line. They often wondered what happened to me. Dad used to say they found me. He didn't want to stake claim.LOL

Lisa....how cute!! and what a catch of the day" ya'll had.....yummy....fish fry tonight! Jo

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

I love the pics Lisa. That string of fish sure brings back memories. Mom hated the smell of fish frying so we always had our fish fries in the back yard. Makes my mouth water thinking about that deliscious trout and heavenly catfish!

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Oh Lisa so cute and thanks for sharing. Did you see mine?

Dover, NH(Zone 5a)

GW, thank you the hyperlink! Your beautiful picture of you mum, Lotus Blossum, is what inspired all of this! I love everyone's photos. I agree that seeing all of the pics makes everyone feel like they know everyone that much better...somehow it is less scary (esp. for shy scaredy cats like me) to post childhood pics then current ones! LOL! Keep 'em coming folks...here is one of my DH..isn't he just the cutest thing!

Thumbnail by Rudbeckia

Yes, he is!

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Lisa, look at those pictures! Love 'em! And Rudbeckia, could your DH look any cuter with that bow tie?

Dover, NH(Zone 5a)

I'm a sucker for a man in a bowtie! :)

Santa Clara, CA(Zone 9a)

The pictures are just great and I love everyones comments. This picture is of me and my DH at one of those old time photos places that we went to while visiting in Colorado.

Ooohh, Kathy T, what a great picture! Your costumes are perfect!

Santa Clara, CA(Zone 9a)

Thanks, my DH grew up in Nevada and his great grandfather was the sheriff, so I think he fit the part really well.

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

This is my Grandparants and various aunts and uncles..

And this is my family as I remember us best. Check out those snazzy perms my sister and I had! Yuck!

Rudbeckia your DH was a charmer and I bet he still is!

Kathy, that sepia tone picture is really nice. I love the costumes too!

Isn't it funny how they didn't smile for pictures way back when? Who/when did someone decide it was nice to smile for a picture?

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

Taking a picture meant holding still and who could hold a smile that long with out bursting out laughing!

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

LOL, Zany!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

LOL - I adore the little tulip dress!

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

My Mom made all our dresses and the boy's shirts except Dads bach then. The Tulip dress was a favorite that she made up in several colors and mine had an iris flower on it.
We sure looked well dressed for a family that didn't have two cents to rub together most of the time thanks to moms trusty sewing machine!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

I know what you mean Zany, we didn't have a pot to "ya no" but we were always clean, full bellies and well dressed!

Great pictures, Zany! I, too, love the tulip dress. What an attractive family portrait that is, and the old-time photos are fun.

Santa Clara, CA(Zone 9a)

What a wonderful picture Zany, it looked like your family had a lot of fun.

Dover, NH(Zone 5a)

Zanymuse...I love your photos! I think a lot of folks here had homemade clothes...my mum sewed quite a bit of our clothes when we were younger. I have an older brother and 4 sisters so my mum's sewing machine kept humming along! Only now, after having sewn clothes myself, do I truly appreciate how much effort she had to put into sewing new outfits and repairing hand-me-downs! But, being a typical kid, all I wanted was the store bought Tuffskin pants! LOL!

Edited to add "Your mum is a great seamstress!"

What a wonderful photo. Those are two sweet little girls, and one dandy car!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Oh, the good ole days. Great pic of you two and lovin' the car.

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

Starzz, those outfits are adoreable. You look like you were all dressed up and ready to go for a ride.

Fountain, FL(Zone 8a)

This is me at 40. I was a waitress on St. George Is.,Fl. I wore my hair up with the head band (bandanna folded)..beat the heck out of a hat or hair net. There was a father&son who were regulars. They used to bet each other what color head band I would wear the next day. LOL oh the memories.

Ginger....you certainly don't look 40!!! Nice picture. Jo

What a cute picture! You look about 20!

N.C. Mts., NC(Zone 6b)

Nice but you sure don't look 40. Fess up, you were really 16.

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

So Ginger, Who usually won the bet? Father or son? By the way, I think the bandanas looked better than thos awful hairnets too!

Fountain, FL(Zone 8a)

LOL...The picture was taken in 1987. I was born in 1947. In '87 the BBC was on the island making a movie..I got to be an extra..waitress where I worked. Lots of fun..John Hurt,Karen Young and Barbara Bosson came in to eat all the time. BB looked so different in person..not at all like her Hill Street Blues self.

Zany...it was a toss-up on the bets. :-))
