Road-side cobbler-gardener

Here, repairing things and reusing them until they are fully unusable is common and so we find repairers of all sorts. Very much unlike the 'use & throw' theory. Cost factor is the major one that forces repairs.

Last week, we had some footwear (sandals) that needed minor repair. So, we went to a road-side cobbler who has made a shelter beside a tree and does his job on the pavement from morning to evening. I noticed some 10-15 plants planted beside his *shop*. It was his work and the area of his garden is about one square metre! I asked him why he had made a garden there. His answer was that the plants ask only some water unlike children and animals who ask many things!! His attitude has made me to give one or two plants to his garden.

That is so charming a picture you painted in my mind with your story of this man and his little garden! I am sure his little garden will flourish with love and you will be a part of it with your shared plants.

In the meanwhile, what has happened?? The city corporation mowed it away, much to my agony as well as that cobbler's! Reason? It was obstructing pedestrian traffic!! But other road-side shops are left scot free. That is the painful part.
