Wanted to say hello from OH

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

Hi everyone, I am new here but love reading all the threads and looking at those lovely brugs!!!!
I cannot find any around here, but hopefully soon one of our garden centers will "realize" just how beautiful they are and get some in!!!!!! I guess it doesn't help that I am out in the stix! LOL.
Just wanted to say hello to everyone and also rave at how much this site has uplifted me these last few days - still look out my window to that white stuff :0(
Have a great week!!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

OhioBreezy, welcome to the brug forum. There will be lots of available cuttings later on. I don't carry extra over due to limited space, but this fall I'd be happy to help you out. Just remember.....you have to remind me. I get too many irons in the fire and forget sometimes. Have a great time at Daves.

Hi OhioBreezy,
What part of Ohio are you in?....Hibiscus(Gloria) is in Lima maybe she can tell you where you might find some Brugs in OH.

Welcome to Daves!!!

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Oh good! I love it when new people join us. Welcome OhioBreezy. Lots of nice people with tons of knowledge here.

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

Thanks for the nice welcomes.
Lima is at least 2-3 hours from me. Wish I were in a larger town when it comes to finding things, other than that I wouldn't give up my 2 country stix acres for anything!!!!

I am still trying to figure out how to add my zone info and city info. I will get it, slow learner LOL

Thanks again to all of you for the welcome :)

Welcome OhioBreezy. Many of us still have very cold weather and our Brugs are dormant but this summer and fall I'm sure there will be lots of cuttings around.
If you look to the right you will see "About You". Go to preferences and you can add your info there.

Selma, IA(Zone 5a)

I'm new here too ohiobreezy and they are really great people here. I have become addicted to DG already. You will love it here. They gave me a great welcome just a few days ago and I want to welcome you today. Lindakay

Welcome Breezy,

Have managed to get lots of brugs, although not from our nurseries here in Ohio. Would love to get you started this summer. I have had some 4-5 years, love them all!

Gloria (lima, OH). Hi Ohioan!!! I just got started on here and someone mentioned you up the thread, I have never been to lima, but my friend just started college up there and he said it is over a 2 hour drive!!! Guess there weren't any brugs there anyway *lol*
Ohio nurseries don't seem to be onto these new things, whats up with that?
Glad to have met you Gloria, maybe we can do some trading down the line here.

Welcome to Dave's Breezy, before you know it, you'll have a house full of brugs.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Glad to meet you too Laurrie.

I entered two brugs(blooming) in the Garden show in September, won second & third place. First prize went to a pot of herbs(not blooming)! These judges just don't know what they are missing.

Montgomery, AL(Zone 8a)

Welcome Laurrie to DG.

Welcome Breezy!

Saint Petersburg, FL(Zone 9b)

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

I agree with Irish, must have smokin something!!!! No way an herb over a beautiful bloomin brug!!!

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Thanks everyone, that was my feelings exactly. Will never carry a bloomin' brug out there again! Was an Ecuador Pink and a Jean Pasko, both blooming.

Have felt like the show was "fixed".

Breezy, a welcome from Germany!

St. Louis, MO(Zone 6b)

A warm welcome, OhioBreezy, from freezing New York City. Just 12 days ago I germinated some brug seeds and now have over 40 seedlings (and more popping up each day) to raise into full grown brugs. I'm a beginner and just followed the directions given here on the forum. I am sure that you can start your own from seed also. Good luck and welcome.

Co.Wicklow, Ireland(Zone 8b)

Yeah, That was difinitly fixed Hibiscus! Who needs awards anyway! One person ends up happy, while everyone else ends up dissapointed! I don't get it..LOL

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Well Padre, you must have a green thumb. I am trying seeds, maybe get 5 out of 20 come up. We have not been having any sunshine, think we need some of that.

Thanks, Bruno, these garden shows are not even for money, only a ribbon, but it's the principle of the thing, best "buddies" win?

Breezy, we are to have 40+ the rest of the week, hope it gets down there, you need it to get over your cold.

Franktown, CO(Zone 5a)

Welcome. I'm in Fairborn near Dayton...don't know where you are.

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

Hello, I am actually in Dundee (Tuscarawas Co) in OH.
Nice to meet all of you and thanks for the welcome's still :)

Wish we would get some of that weather here!!! They say actually today we may hit the 40 mark, hehehe, believe it when I see it. I just hope so, maybe would melt all that show!! Here is a picture I just went and took out my kitchen window!!! YUKKKKKKK But goosie is out there to greet me as usual (fake goose on left) Lucy goosie on right hidden behind the partially falling down butterfly bush, she thinks she is hiding from camera. LOL

I got my seeds yesterday,you sweetie!Thank you,Wink Wink!

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

Oh I am so glad your seeds arrived to you safely!!!!
You will have to let me know your results and if you like any of those (or if any are different from what you might already have) let me know, I am gong to try and take lots of nice pics this year with the new digital camera the dear hubby got me, I love it, I rescue parrots here as well as garden. I use the camera to take "before" and "after" pics of the birds, they seem to glow after they have been here for awhile. Camera comes in handy to show the previous owner that I still have their baby too. I just say what do you want me to do with "your" bird- then take a pic kinda like they say and they know I still have the critter :) Easier that way than driving hours to see the bird that they really don't care about, but want to make sure I am not selling their baby, make sense???

Back to the point here, Brugs!!! I got my first cutting on monday with roots already attached LOL. Was unknown written on it, but what the heck for a first timer here I DON'T CARE he he he, took a pic to show you, on left is rooted one, on right were others in package all are unknown. Sorry to say but maybe they will be pretty?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Glad you are here Breezy! I would love to see all of your parrots. I just love them!! Just handed mine a potsticker! There is a pet forum here that you can post and post and post!

Amazing to say, but thoso funny looking things will grow up to be beautiful, regardless which kind they are.

Co.Wicklow, Ireland(Zone 8b)

Yippeee! I got an egg!!! That's such a coincidence!!! I post here about my ringnecks this morning and the first egg of the year gets laid on the same day!!! Cool!!! Wonder what colours they be this year! :o)))

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Well.....Easter came early? Eggs in a basket.

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

Cool, an eggie!!!
I do love my birds, I also adopt box turtles, yes box turtles, I am a registered member of Turtle Homes as well. Everyone around here knows I am the bird lady, turtle lady, or plantlady, either one is fine with me!!!
Just last week I rescued a mole!!!! :) It was drowning in our flood :( had to save it.
I am going to find that pet forum, I think I might be way off topic with this here and don't want to blow a good thing :)
I will head to the pet forum and place some pet pics there LOL
talk to you all later - laurrie/ob

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Bruno!!! I have an Indian ringneck also!!! Your baby is a blue one? What other colors do you have? Mine is so smart!
Here is Macho Baby after a shower.

Thumbnail by Kell
Co.Wicklow, Ireland(Zone 8b)

That's great Kell! Yeah, I thought that baby was going to be blue too, but it turned out to be green! I've got a Blue male, Cinnamon female and their two 1 year old green babies! I can't tell weather their male or female untill they get get their rings, but i'm guessing that ones' male and the other's female, judging by their differnce of overall shape and personality.

I'd love to have a pet like macho baby but i'd feel bad to seperate mine as they love each others company!
