O.K. Here is the update on House Fire!!!!!

Cape May Court House, NJ(Zone 7a)

I know it has been quite a while since I filled you guy's in on what's going on but we are getting VERY VERY close to getting back into our home! (For anyone new to DG our home burned to the ground on November 4, 2002!)

Just last night the carpet guy finished so now we are really on the last leg. Just a few thing's for the plumber and electrician to finish up and then the inspector come's to check thing's out and give us the o.k. to move back in!!!!! I am hopeing that this will only take till the end of the week!

The weather has just been terrible yesterday and today(RAIN)
so we were not able to move furniture and other stuff in but tomorrow look's like a GREAT day!!!!!! (OH MY POOR BACK)

So anyway that is the latest new's and I hope next week this time I can tell you guy's that we are finally HOME!!!!!

sue

Sue, what wonderful news! I am keeping my fingers crossed that you will, indeed, be happily settled in your new home by next week. Thank you for this welcome update.

Maben, MS(Zone 7b)

Sue I know that you can hardly wait. Hope next week's weather will be perfect for moving.

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Yay! Long time comin', eh? (But considering all the damage, wasn't really THAT long.) (And maybe some things will pop outta the flowers beds that were there and surprise you this spring!)

Course now, I bet you're gonna miss your crib on the beach, ain'tcha? Glad things are looking up for ya. Need plants? Seeds? Just holler!~

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

I'm soooooooooo happy for you!! Nothing like your own space in this world. Like Shoe said, I'll bet a lot of the plants survived, and what didn't we can refurbish. Big hugs to you and yours!

I bet you can't wait to get HOME. Hope all goes well and I hope the weather cooperates.

Cape May Court House, NJ(Zone 7a)

You guy's are the best!!!!! All of you are right, I can't wait to get HOME!!!!

And shoe this House on the beach thing is not all it's cracked up to be, with the weather we have had over the past few month's I can't wait to get off this island!

We have had so much rain and flooding that we have had to move our car's to higher ground several time's and the wind over here is TERRIBLE!!! My bedroom is on the third floor and I swear that Dorathy and Toto are comming to vist me almost every night!!!! hehe Now did I mention that 2ft of snow we just had!!!!!! ( I am pretty sure this town has only 1 plow)

I will take some picture's tomorrow if the rain and fog stop so you can see how it has turned out!!!!!!

Sue...what a good feeling to be moving back home. So glad it is almost ready because I know you are! You have stayed so upbeat during all this I am amazed.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Sue I am so happy to hear your good news! Nothing is like going home! I can't imagine how devastating it was to lose everything. It probably does seem like you have been gone forever but it really is amazing how quickly they can build now! I wish you all the best in your new home.

Sue, what marvelous news, as Shoe said, considering the damage, it really isnt that long. not quite 4 months right? and they had to build from the groundd up....
When you are ready for some plants, holler, I am going to have a lot to share with you.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Hi, Sue! I just read your update and I am so excited for you guys - oh, there is NO place like home. :) This is some cruddy weather for all the final stuff to be happening, huh? But it's sooo much better than if it'd all hit when the re-building was just getting started! Can't wait to see pictures!

Cape May Court House, NJ(Zone 7a)

I took this picture today!!! It look's soooooooooo bare without any shrub's out front!!!!

I just had a thought.. if I put some of those awening's along the roof i might have enough shade to put more HOSTA!!!!! hehe

Oh, how pretty! I like the colors and can imagine it all landscaped. Is it the same as your original house? I don't think I saw any pictures of it.

Cape May Court House, NJ(Zone 7a)

Here is the old house! Color's are the same but the roof was slanted before and only window's downstairs, now there are a bunch upstair's too!!!! We now have 5 bedroom's (was 4) and 3 full bath's (was 2)!!!!

The way I look at it GW is that I have MORE to clean!!!!!!

Yes, but when you have more space, you're not cramming so much into the little space you have...So it makes cleaning easier. That's the theory, anyway! If you're like me, you'll fill every nook and cranny soon, anyway. I bet you're going to love all the light from those windows. How exciting!

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

she wants all those windows to start more seeds and plants in . lol

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

This is truly an example of turning lemons into lemonade. Never have too many windows, or too many baths or too many rooms, in my opinion. As GW says, you don't have to cram things into tiny spaces, so you're more likely to put things away. I am so happy for you that you will be moving into your "new" home, and it really didn't seem like it took as long as predicted. I will be watching for a thread asking for plants. Does ligustrum grow there? I have hundreds every spring, and they grow fast. Here, they are evergreen, and actually get to be a pest in the beds, but they provide food for a number of birds. I am allergic to them, but tolerate them anyway, since they are just so useful. But I have other things you might be able to use. Happy moving day!

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

Wow! That is quite a difference. I just know that come spring you will start putting in the plantings and decorating the yard with garden delights. Bless you and your new home!

Sue your new house is beautiful. I'm sure you can't wait until you're all settled. If you think of something that might be growing up here that you would need, let me know.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

congratulations. someone once said to me to enjoy the newness of it all, because it is only that way once.
if i can help you out with some plants let me know, i'm sure i can find a thing or two to help your garden grow.
