By-the-way,I did a search of the member lists and contacted all three members from Singapore.

Pebble, I contacted Louisa already thanks so much *lol* Padre, can you tell me what you like about Singapore? What you dislike.

The reason I'm asking, my husband has a chance to go and work there (or England).
After a recent move, I'm not sure I'm up for another. Especially one that will take me 29 hours to get there by plane- sigh -

I have lived in Asia before, the Phillipines. I LOVED it! Of course all of this was before kids. So I'm trying to find out all I can before I even entertain the idea.

I will contact you by e-mail for a lengthy response. Let me say here that I enjoy my visits to Singapore. It is near the equator but being an island city is cooled by the sea. The walkways over the streets are hanging with beautiful flowers. It is a gardener's paradise. The orchid gardens in the botanical garden are unsurpassed in the world. Central city is one large shopping mall, attracting visitors from Australia and other countries. English is the language of the government and of commerce. Mandrin, Malaysian and Hindi are also spoken by a significant portion of the population. The streets are clean and modern. The older a car gets, the more it costs to register it - consequently most cars are of recent vintage. Nuf for here. More later to your e-mail.
