"New" Thread

MERCER, PA(Zone 5a)

once you have started a thread, in the first column, it says "New" -yes or no. I started a thread and it said No under "New". Since it was new, why did it not say Yes?

It says "Yes" when there is a new comment in the thread...

Thank You so much !

To expand a bit on Evert's explanation - the system "knows" who you are. If you create a thread (or post a reply), the system knows it isn't "new" to you. So only when someone else creates a new thread or posts a reply will the system tell you it's "new".

Thank you. This explains why it always says no even after I make an additional post on my own thread. Ron

That was confusing to me at first, too, Ron. It's just that it's not "new" to you. :) Welcome to DG, by the way!

Thank you for the welcome GW. I've been reading a lot of your threads.......very informative (even if we don't agree on digital cameras! :O) ) I sure hope you and hubby are feeling better from your back problems. I broke my leg/hip by falling on ice in December, so I know what being temporarily incapacitated is all about. I'm in month two of a six month recovery...talking about cabin fever. Reading DG has been a blessing ! By the way, you don't even want to break your leg. It hurts like the dickens. I must admit that after two operations and four blood transfusions,I feel like a million bucks...all green and wrinkled !!! LOL
Take care and both of you get better soon.

It's fun to see others being confused about the "new" thing. When I first came here, I thought it referred to my new status. So when it changed, I thought it meant I wasn't new anymore. Then I saw some people I knew were here before me being designated "new" and it really threw me a curve.
