What you got coming up.

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Bobbie felt like walking a little today so we went out and we found a huge surprise. Well our surprise(magic)lilies that never bloomed last year has green shoots coming up. We thought they might have died because of the dry weather. These were from Bobbie's mother yard so we were really glad they came back. They seemed to have multiplied. We also found tall phlox(sweet william), budded daffs, stella d'ior, tulips, iris and hyacinths. We have sea holly, spider wort, holly hocks, regular and zabrina and carueala passion vines that never died back. I have a lot of things in the basement like cannas, elephant ear and banana that is putting out new growth. Not to mention the 56 brugs that keep hollering take me out. Jim

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Jim, I don't think we have a thing coming up except daffs. We do have some of them blooming though. it's too cold to stay out there for long!

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

Just saw my firs 3 daffs blooming today!! Oh and some thrift.

Oh, gracious. My paperwhites have come and gone already. Some of my early blooming daffodils are already making a pretty display while others are just now poking up. Daylilies are coming up and tulips, of course. Like you, some things never died back, like the spiderwort. Some of my sedums are poking through, which seems especially early. Our weather here has been so warm of late, though. It's getting me more and more anxious for spring to settle here, though. In a few more weeks, the azaleas will start their show. It's astounding.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Does in the house count? LOl...

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Well, I saw the tips of my reticulated iris and some crocus last week. Now I see a blanket of snow. LOL

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Badseed, I did see the Iris you gave me at the roundup putting out new leaves. Thanks again.

Azalea I found some thrift last week also. I had forgotten about that. Oh yeah and some yellow butterfly bushes that I bought and never planted has new leaves.

tiG, you are so right about it being cold. When we went out we didn't think it would be that cold but when we saw the things coming up we had to walk at least part of the yard. The wind will cut right through you.

Carla I looked at the silver maple that I got from you but it hasn't put out as yet. We did notice some leaves on a maple down from our house. Not our's. Thanks again.

Poppy Sue I could have a six month head start and you will catch me in no time. Can't wait to see pictures of your yard this year. Bobbie and I both really got a good dose of medicine back when she was so sick by just looking at the
pictures you posted of your beds. I would bring up the picture and Bobbie laying on the bed back of me would say that Poppy Sue sure knows how to coordinate her beds. Really made the time go by.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I haven't seen the ground since November......

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

crestedchick, I am so sorry.

"down the Shore", NJ(Zone 7a)

I've got some Icicle's, but they are not coming up, they're hanging down...

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

I have seen ground many times since November. :) But nothing is coming up outside. However, inside everything's different ;)

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

Nothing's coming up, but the shrubs are bending over and down - mostly buried under snow. But.....the heatwave is coming - almost 50 degrees in a few days - I hope!! Then Jim and only then, I might have something positive to chirp over. :-) I'm happy to hear that Bobbie felt like stretching her legs and obviously enjoyed the walk of discovery. I often think of you both.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

my helleborous are blooming, all my tulips and daffodils have emerged, but they have a long way to go, also, my fritillaria imperialis has broken ground and about 1/2 an inch up.... buds on my lilacs, new growth on my butterfly bushes, my lucifer crocosmia has green growth emerging even a brug that was relegated to the garage has about 2-3 inches of new growth poking out. I havent noticed any of my hyacinths yet. My anemonies are doing well, lush green growth...and my poppies are about 4-5 inches, they need thinning....what else.....well, you get the picture, i have quite a bit emerging.

I have one lone bloom on my ground phlox

The daffodils, tulips, lilies have started up

The daphnes are covered with pink buds ready to bloom but I think they are smart enough to wait until the snow and ice are gone

The hellebores have buds but no blooms yet - maybe they are waiting for lent :-)

The forsythia is ready to pop

Spring is definitely in the air and I am sooooooo grateful!

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

Oh I forgot about the Daphne - it's starting to pop open and then I have several Hellebores blooming - pink & white - I can't get enough of them they last sooo long.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

My Daffs won't be up till the beginning of May. :(
The only thing growing here is snow. We grew 6 more inches last night on top of two feet of older snow. You all down south will have to post your blooms for us frozen northerners.

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

I have daffodils coming up, 2 colors of iris reticulata, and I see some iris trying to make it. But no tulips yet. I don't think they got dug up and eaten because of all the hardware cloth I put in the ground above the bulbs, at about 2" deep.

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

I'm in zone 5 usually but this year is at least as warm as zone 6. Can see buds in the daffodils south of house. Eranthus in bloom, so pretty. Can see tulips poking through, also snowdrops. No crocus in bloom yet. Nice to walk around outside and see new green things. Donna

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

took a good walk, the plum trees and forsythia are budding. The tulip magnolia has big buds, hope a freeze doesn't get it. We have daffs blooming and the lenten rose is blooming. The arum italicum is up and birds are everywhere. Sure hope it's spring.

Surry, VA(Zone 7b)

Do growing puppies count? LOL Otherwise we have nothing growing here, but the temps are starting to warm up later this week.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Some of you will be happy to know my belly is not yet on the rise! LOL There is still hope..........ROTFLOL

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Badseed, give it time. LOL

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

Are you prego, Badseed? If so, I think I'd change my DG name........lol

My crocus in my 'greenhouse corner' were starting to pop up--then came 2 storms. We now have 31 in of snow and the drifts and snowblower mounds are much much higher--the way it is going it will be May before I see my snowdrops and Helleborous (which usually start to bloom in Feb) ;(

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL Woodspirit! No, not yet. LOL Number five just turned 1 in January, but I am sure everyone is waiting for the announcement of number 6. giggle I couldn't resist ribbing, since Bobbie had such a good time with my baby last summer. :)

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

since I posted on Feb. 19, I see my tulips are coming up.I am so glad I finally learned which types are truly perennial (if the squirrels don't get them).
I am amazed by people that have large families. I love my kids but boy (!), what a lot of work. They've been gone now quite a few years and I wouldn't give up my freedom for anything. At least I now have enough assorted grandkids to really get a kick out of them...........

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Woodspirit1, That's the reason they are Grand-kids. Oh Badseed, Did I ever have fun holding that baby. I'm glad I got to hold her then because she is to big for me to hold now. She weighs to much for me to pick up now. She is still pretty as a picture. Give her a big hug for me.

Whittier, CA(Zone 10a)

Wow, everyone is either fruitful with kids or plants! Love it. I am sorry for the snow bound. Is it pretty difficult still? Isnt it some kind of a record? I think Alaska will even be blooming before some of the Eastern areas!

I certainly enjoy reading comments by the real gardeners, the people who even have things starting to pop up in basements, ready for spring. That is dedicated gardening.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Let's see I have lavendula rosea coming up in my seed trays, datura and clematis seeds planted along with some snapdragons.
But, I was just reading my journal from last year - yikes. This time last year I had fritillaria up several inches and also the dracunculas had their heads popping up. Well, if they are out there today they need to come up a lot higher to be able to see them above the 18" of snow still on the garden LOL!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Are my hellebores blooming under 2 feet of snow?

I was gunna try to dig them out to see, but figured I'd do more harm than good........

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

cc LOL

Olympia, WA

Checked Gunnera - which was under protective cover - and found a mouse who was enjoying the location.

No snow here - crocus, tete a tete daffs, winter jasmine vinca minor - all showing their stuff - everything else is pushing and probing and preparing.

Warm hugs to all the snow bunnies!

Vicki

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Wannadanc, will your Gunnera put out pups?

Olympia, WA

The Gunneras are still pretty young - 2nd year and 3rd. year - so haven't experienced the offshoots yet - in fact, must admit that I hadn't even thought of that! It has been so much fun to watch those leaves double in size each year. The inflorescence was spectacular and amusing and I haven't yet quite figured out the anatomy of the integral parts! I shall have to look into info on Gunnera and see if I can't learn a bit more about them.

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

THe tulip trees are blooming like crazy here now...great to look at after all the brown.

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Weeds, we have buds so it won't be long now. Can't hardly wait.

Panama, NY(Zone 5a)

goosebumps!!!!!

CC, your hellebores probably are blooming, and it wouldn't really hurt anything if you dug down carefully to have a peek. My former landlady used to put a bushel basket over the ones that are now mine just so she could look at them. I dig down a couple times in the winter and pick one or two to bring in the house. They last a long time in water.

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

Well, I did have daffs blooming, the Mexican Hat, Clover, Verbena, mums were coming back........Lobelia, butterfly bushes and roses were all leafing out........really worried about them after this ice storm!!

"eyes"

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

My sister lives in Carrolton and said she drove in 3 inches of ice to work yesterday. She is supposed to fly out to a seminar at a Doral Resort in Florida today. I hope she made it. She is going to take some extra days and drive down to Key West......

Lutz, FL(Zone 9b)

We have Verbena, Tea Olive, Honeysuckle (L sempervirens never stops blooming), Anemones, Gerbera Daisys, Phlox, Atamasco Lilys, Abutilons, Winter Jasmine and Carolina Jessamine, Pelergoniums, Lantana and lots of annuals. The Spiderwort just started blooming. Salvia is starting to send up flower stalks, the roses are setting buds and so is the wildflower 'Honeycomb Head' http://plantsdatabase.com/go/54217/
which is really a thrill. I even have a bud on Brugmansia 'Jean Pasco'! Now why do I feel so guilty?? LOL
