I think Spring is closer than I thought!

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

All day yesterday and all day today I have been listening to the croking of frogs! My old neighbor has a swampy/pond that seems to be full of frogs and they are just now waking up I guess. It sounds like the middle of summer time out there hearing all them sing like that. So my guess is that Spring is coming fast!
Yipeeee!!

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

And bluebirds and robins were everywhere today.

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

Speaking of birds, we had a HUGH flock of black birds(guessing that is what they were) They simply covered up the whole back yard!! The yard was plum black with birds, and when I ran to get the camera and came back to ease the door open...they all flew away at the same time!! I bet you have seen them before. I think that too is another sign that spring is well on the way!
I only wish I could have gotton a pic of them, it reminded me of the movie "The Birds"!!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Molly, I've been hearing frogs for two weeks, and after today, I'm really excited. wasn't it wonderful????

Ellabell, GA(Zone 8a)

Spring must be here, all kinds of bugs are hanging out under my porch light again. Mosquitos, moths, a stink bug, and an assortment of other flying things.
On the bright side, I have been hearing the frogs sing too. The lizards are out, deciduous Azaleas and the Tulip Magnolia are blooming.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Then why are my street and yard covered with ice?? Why are ice balls falling from the sky? WHY? WHY? WHY???? LOL

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Hey the bradford pear tree is all budded out and tall phlox has put out.
And when I last went to the basement I could hear the brugs saying I want to go outside.
Molly I also saw a flock of black birds the other day. Strange how they all stay together.
Badseed we feel so bad for you. The ice is terrible.

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

ya'll are so cruel-it was like -20 last night!!!
whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

We were lucky, only -9º here overnight; & our groundhog didn't see his shadow! LOL

Even this a/m in this rain, I still hear the frogs and birds singing their little hearts out! I am soo happy!! I just love the "sound" of spring. tiG now that I think about it, I guess it has been a few days since I been hearing the frogs, Sooo just maybe the cold weather will move on outta here for now and spring can bust wide open!
Paintedlady, So far the bugs are still holding off somewhat. But I did see my first fly at the pig lot yesterday...so that too must have been a good sign!
Badseed, Awwww I hate that you are still getting all that white stuff, maybe all the warm air we are getting here will start blowing your way soon!
Jim, With the weather being so warm yesterday I got out there and looked around and I have alot more stuff popping up than I thought too!
Dori, How about we all start blowing our warm air up your way? Maybe it wont cool off too bad before it gets there.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL Thanks but no thanks! Then it would turn to rain and I'd have to build an ark. LOL BUT, I can at least drive in rain. :)

Milo, IA(Zone 5a)

We have about another month of winter to contend with and it can be the longest month of the year. Hearing about spring waking up for you guys, really helps raise my spirits. And I must admit, makes me a little green with envy.

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

Although we are showing all signs of spring here, we have been known to have a blizzard in March! So I can't go to crazy out there yet!

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

Nothin blooming outside, only one little Hyacinth inside, snow, cold, etc.. here. It has gotten warmer though, and I think in about a month or little more, snow will start to melt, and first Snowdrops might be blooming even earlier.

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

Evert, I don't have anything blooming eaither, but all the signs are there to show that spring is just around the corner!

Grove City, OH(Zone 6a)

I thought it would raise my spirits to read about the spring starting, but having a storm raging out there now, just makes me that much and jealous-er!!! I want spring now~!

Keep blowing the warmth up this way!!!

Lappeenranta, Finland(Zone 3a)

hope the caption is really true......

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

Ok ya'll I need help blowing....my face is all red from blowing sooo hard! LOL

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL Molly honey, take a breath and sit down before you pass out. :)

Milo, IA(Zone 5a)

Lupinelover: You must be getting the storm that was here yesturday. It is depressing isn't. Sorry to we had to pass it on to you. The sun is out here today, so that makes me feel a little better. From the forecast, it will melt this week, highs in the 40's.

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

Ahhh well I tried Badseed, My intentions were good :)
Wishing you warm weather sooooooon!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Well, thanks a lot! The ice is not pouring from the sky anymore. NOW we have a few inches of snow on top of the ice and it is STILL coming down! LOL Oh well, work was cancelled for tonight and tomorrow. None of the employees could get there tonight (some could even get ticketed if caught driving) and the truck was cancelled for tomorrow. Can anybody send cash?? ROTFLOL Seriously we are all fine and much better for being forced to stay inside.

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

All the better, you can stay here with us tonight and tomorrow and we'll keep you nice and cozy talking about our spring like weather LOL
No really sorry to hear about all the bad weather you are having, hope it will all melt away soon!

Northport, ME(Zone 5b)

They say Teusday night it may not go below zero. It has for 2 weeks straight now. I need to go to GA in Feb. next year. Maybe for all the snow season up here. I looked up Brugmansias and can't grow them here w/o a heated greenhouse. Maybe it would be worth the heating bill. Imagine, outside it's 10 below at noon, you walk into a sunlit room with Brugs, Bird-of-paradise,and a small fountain. A Passion flower vine overhead. I sit on a bench with Bosco (My 8 yr old Dal. buddy) and say "February in Maine aint so bad" Sorry, just dreaming. Frank

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

LOL Frank, Dream on hun! It never hurts to dream!

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Frankay, I just looked up Northport and you are way up there! Looks like a great place when it is not winter.

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Frank we feel for you. I would have to be packing and moving. I do not like any type of cold weather. Back when I was young, many years ago, I would stand in the shade on the hottest day of the year and get chills. Hold in there maybe it won't be to much longer.

Austell, GA(Zone 7a)

Mollybee, I'm just down the street from you and I have daffodils blooming. I love it except you know we will have more cold and everything budding will get zapped. Brenda

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

You are right Brenda, 9 times out of 10 it does happen that way. But I am keeping my fingers crossed that we are in that 1% chance this time and we will just move right on into Spring with no more cold snaps!
