A MYSTERY!!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

So Liz, do you just dust the top of the soil lightly? I want to use it on my little seed packs.

The DE worked well for me last year for the Adult gnats. Dusting the top of the soil seemed to get any that were crawling around on the surface. After it gets wet tho ... it seemed pretty useless and needed to be re-applied.

I bought a big bottle of Gnatrol this year which kills the larvae in the soil. Seems to do a pretty good job as long as you water all the plants with it... including houseplants.

We have Ortho Bug-B-Gone products, but I've not seen the one called Pure-Solutions dust. I'm going to be looking for it though. Sounds like a great product. I'd forgotten that I'd used DE last year with good results. Will be getting my shaker out and give it a shot this year too. Not a big problem with the gnats now, but I might as well get rid of what I have.

I've got the Gnatrol too and I think it has helped a lot. I watered with it every time I watered for three weeks and got rid of a lot of those little buggers.

Were you able to collect pollen?

Milo, IA(Zone 5a)

Kell: Now that is Pepto-Bismal Pink, truly fantastic looking.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

no Dennis......... but i am confused! Can I try to pollinate it and also take the anthers out?

Dennis email me please...so i get your email address...I want to send you a picture to see.

Co.Wicklow, Ireland(Zone 8b)

Sure you can Kell! Now all you need to do is pull or cut all the anthers off and send them to me..LOL

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Bruno........ I can't wait till I get more blooms. It is dropping all the leaves that got frost damage! It should recover soon I hope. I am saving lots of pollen from my big orange sang (which I think may really be a vulcanicola now) now for I am about to cut it back to a trunk only.
