I'm in the web news today

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

The Cricket World Cup is going on in South Africa. Yesterday India played Holland and won it. The Indian fast bowler Srinath took his 300th wicket. Today, a well written article has appeared in http://www.rediff.com/wc2003/2003/feb/12srinath.htm and in the middle paragraphs you will find my name. I just wanted to share this happy moment.

Thank you very much, friends.
I am getting the impression from some posts up here that some have thought that I have played and won the match. It is actually like this: in that match India Vs Holland, my friend Srinath (he says I'm his mentor) took his 300th wicket and that is a great landmark. In the profile of Srinath, my name (Dinakar)appears somewhere in the middle of the article. You can see it in 3 places. That was the first match and the end of the tournament is still more than a month away. I am sitting here, while he is out there playing for India. I hope now the matter will not be confusing.

LOL Dinu, I understood but still think it is wonderful to see how highly thought of you are among your sporting friends who speak of you with praise and respect. That they wish to speak of you in this their time of glory says that you are much loved and appreciated. Bravo!

Dinu you must be thrilled with the win. I suppose you heard about England's demise. They were beaten 3-0 matches by Australia. Not a happy camp!!

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

Louisa, the tempo of the World Cup will be entirely different. England might have lost to Australia recently, but you can never say. Yesterday, New Zealand has defeated one of the favourites South Africa which was not easily expected. Uncertaities of the game at its best! India played very badly to lose to Australia on Saturday. Let's see what happens in the coming month. I'm following some important matches and it is very interesting.

As you say Dinu, it's ups and downs but really exciting. Keep us posted because we don't get too much news about cricket over here. My brother is an avid supporter of the game and gives me snippets from time to time. I tell you something, the memories of an English green in summer when I would do the scoring for our local teams, keeps coming back to me, especially now as we face this awful winter here. Those were the days my friend.

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

You a Cricket scorer??! I tell you Louisa, Cricket scoring has become an art now. I have seen a few who do it so beautifully that looking at the score book itself is a pleasure, leave alone those colours used which give so many details of statistics.

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

I would think that scoring is a darn lot easier than trying to read these posts!! lol!!! Yes, Dinu I used to love to do it in my younger days but don't think I would be as efficient now. Amazing how many tasks come so much easier to younger minds - just a breeze!!
