can I have my Nationality please?

beside my name on DG it shows that I am Irish (IE). I may be on the island of Ireland but I'm in the north (Northern Ireland) which is in the UK.

Can it be either UK, NI (our own abbreviation) or N Ireland.

Mark, UK is an option in your Location preferences. Just select United Kingdom and then submit the page.

Evert, I have standardized all our countries on the standard ISO 3166-1 http://www.din.de/gremien/nas/nabd/iso3166ma/codlstp1/en_listp1.html

If you get them to change Finland from FI to SF, then I'll also change it. ;-)

Yes, it's surprising that SU is still in the standards, although it is called "Former", it is probably there for backward compatibility.

Not too many members from Finland, though, I've been linking to PDB many times, and told about Daves and GWD etc.

I'm not sure... there are so many former soviet states, who can count them all? :) My guess is no, we probably don't have members from ALL of them, but I'd say that we have probably around 50% (a total guess) of the world's countries present here.

Not all of them have indicated so in their preferences, so they don't show up in the memberlist for their country, nevertheless they do show up in my weblogs. 163 different countries visited DG last November.

If I remember right, these are the ex-soviet states; Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Georgia, Azerbaidzhan, Armenia, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Kyrgystan, Tadzhikistan, Uzbekistan, & Turkmenistan.

That's just davesgarden.com. I didn't poke into the other sites, although there are plenty of countries there, too. The Garden Watchdog, for example, got over 100 countries last month.

Most interesting reading. I never thought about the "new" Russians, and am surprised to know we have so many members from that area. But in a way, some are Weezingreen's neighbors more than I am way down here in Texas. Do you have it broken down as to subscribing/non-subscribing, Dave? I don't recall seeing any posts by people from Russia, although I might have and not be aware. (See Pebble's satellite photo, and my comment re: world geography.)

Aimee, you can see all the subscribed members by country through the memberlist. According to that, we have no subscribers from Russia.

I noticed we even have three members from Turkey, pity they arent active.
I did notice though, that Chamma who is from the United Arab Emirates, wasnt listed....where is she listed? she does post fairly regularly....

This is interesting. I just noticed that Chamma's location is no longer showing on her posts. They certainly were a couple of weeks ago. Did the upgrade change that? Or did she? Hmmmm.....

For her, it's not necessary. If you click on the "AE" in her location, you see it means United Arab Emirates.
