Calling Choco-holics!!

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

Last night my best and friend & I went to an event called "A CHOCOLATE SUNDAY". It was hosted by our PBS television station as a fund raiser. For 25 bucks from 6 - 9 pm you could eat your heart out. They had chocolate everthing! They even served some kinda chocolate drink where you could eat the cups!! WHOA! I was in heaven. I brought my camera, but got so wrapped up in the moment that I didn't take pics. I realized that I could never eat all the chocolate they were serving so I took my camera out of the bag, wore it around my neck, and started filling it with my chocolate goodies. This is what I brought home for DH & DD. The event was held right outside of New Orleans in a town called Kenner. They had many top Chefs there serving their yummy dishes of chocolate. They even had grilled chicken topped with a chocolate almond mole' sauce...my gosh..I can't wait till next year to do it again, this time with a bigger bag!!!

Hi Lisa,
GEE, you must have passed on the chicken w/choc sauce huh? Or was it a lil too sticky to put in the camera bag????

Middle, TN(Zone 6b)

Chocolate Heaven!!! Most of us can only see such a place in our dreams! A chocoholic's delight! Wish I could have been there with you.

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

I was giddy yall...I truly was awestruck.

I have totally died and gone to heaven I think. What a spread you bought home there Lisa.
I see no chocolate bowls tho. Yes, you make little bowls with nothing but chocolate and fill the bowls with other candy; of course chocolate candy of some sort to fill that chocolate bowl. They make great little gifts to that someone special person, especially at Valentines day and are great around Christmas time as well.

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

OH I see a King cake piece on top of plate! Yummy!!!

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Lisa, I can't wait for Jo to see this thread...she is the Chocolate Queen around here. lol

For any of you that get the Food Channel, they are having a "Chocolate" week...for Valentines.

Crossville, TN

Middle, TN(Zone 6b)

Looks like a lot of us well be headed to South Louisiana along about this time next year.

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Wow Lisa you must have been in heaven. I can't believe you kept this a secret. I know you didn't want to be invaded and everybody get all the goodies before you. lol

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

I didn't realize we had so many chocolate lovers here! I live for chocolate, must have it every day....

Coco, they did have some chocolate goodies that were served in chocolate cups filled with a praline mousse. They were light and fluffy and oooo so good.

Jo, I didn't know you were a chocolate junkie

Mystic, I didn't talk about it too much because I didn't know for sure I could find someone to come with me. Can you believe I had trouble finding someone to go???!!! My best friend finally gave in after days of me begging her. She knows how much I love chocolate.

There were also Chocolate Martini's...I didn't get to taste those, but I sure wonder what they tasted like. I am hoping it will be a yearly thing since it went over so big.

Sue, no chocolate covered gators...but if you look in the photo, in the middle, there is a chocolate gator. It was so cute, pure chocolate. MMMMMMMM

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Groan! How can a person endure this? Yucky old chocolate, dark smeary stuff, stains on your fingers, teeth and lips. Caffeine and sugar and nuts with calories, terrible.

You traitor! How could you keep it from us. I tried sour grapes, but I am just plain jealous. I say we contact the perpetrators of this sinful indulgence, this salute to decadence, and insist on reservations for the next one. Which should be a good time for a South Louisiana Roundup. Mild weather, friendly people, historic sights, how can it go wrong? AND CHOCOLATE! I prefer dark semi-sweet, but will be really happy with some of the praline enhanced stuff.

Middle, TN(Zone 6b)

Lisa makes the best pralines you ever ate in your life. Her parlines are up there in the same ranking as chocolate in my opinion.

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

I'm probably one of the few people who will even eat dark baking chocolate...you know, the bitter stuff. The darker the better as far as I'm concerned...but I won't turn down chocolate in any form!

I must post the recipe of the White Chocolate Cheezecake that I make. All my friends and relatives can't wait till Christmas...that's what they get!

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Melody, I don't buy it until I'm ready to use it, because I start with just a nibble and somehow the entire package disappears. I love that strong, bitter taste. And with a good cup of espresso, it's food and nectar worthy of any royalty.

Middle, TN(Zone 6b)

I have been known to bump off bags of chocolate chips in my desperation for a choc. fix. Hey, when a person is suffering those little chocolate bits taste wonderful!!!

Mel, could you post that recipe? It sounds like a winner since cheesecake is also one of my favorites. Where will you post it? I assume the recipe forum.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Hey! We have that here too! I steer clear of them. LOL Last night a guy from work mentioned that ours was yesterday. I think he said it was to benefit MD research. Great way to get people to come out, huh?! I think I gained five pounds just looking at your picture. Thanks!

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

Think of all the money the PBS station would have made if you would have brought all of us along!!
My wife is hosting some kind of party tonight, I know there are chocolate goodies around. Eat your heart out sledder!
I am going to see if I can snitch some.
ßernie

I'll be happy to escort you to this fund raiser next year! I'm definitely a chocoholic! I'm drooling just thinking about it!

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Anyone remember that Simpson's episode when Homer and family went to the big candy trade show? Homer took the famed gummy Venus de Milo? {insert Homer's mmmmmm-arggggle gurgle here}

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Choooooocccccccccccoooooooooooolllllllllllaaaaaaaaaaaaaatttttttttttttteeeeeeeeeeee is my favorite thing. Then there is shrimp, lobster, steak, macadamia nuts, pecans, sneeze nuts (cashews), crab, hot chocolate, fudge, hershey bars, Ohhhh I guess I am back to chocolate again. Well, I did tell you that it is one of my favorite things!

I think you should take a very large backpack next year and we all send you sase's for our share of your party. :~)

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I got this in a email, justifies eating chocolate

** Chocolate is derived from cocoa beans.

Bean = vegetable.
** Sugar is derived from either sugar cane or sugar BEETS.

Both of them are plants, in the vegetable category.
Thus, chocolate is a vegetable.
**

To go one step further, chocolate candy bars also contain
milk, which is dairy.
So, candy bars are a health food.

**Chocolate-covered raisins, cherries, orange slices and
strawberries all count
as fruit, so eat as many as you want.

Remember - - - "STRESSED"
spelled backward is "DESSERTS"

Send this to four people and you will lose 2 pounds.

Send this to all the people you know (or ever knew), and you
will
lose 10 pounds.

If you delete this message, you will gain 10 pounds
immediately.

That's why I had to pass this on - - - I didn't want to risk
it.

I posted it here so I'm safe.......

New York City, NY(Zone 6b)

My wife and I will be dropping by for dessert.

Adam.

Middle, TN(Zone 6b)

Alyssum, please set a plate for my DH and me also. Yummy sounding!!!

Cortlandt Manor, NY(Zone 6a)

Sorry -- all gone! ;)

Maybe I will post this recipe on the recipe thread though --it is really easy.

Hey -- maybe we should start a chocolate round robin. Put some in -- take some out. It might not get to far.

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

If we did a chocolate round robin we would have to send the initial chocolate treats to somebody who isn't addicted to chocolate like some of us are or we wouldn't get our package to eat I mean our treats to eat I mean our chocolate pieces to try.

Things are getting bad around here!!!!! PLEASE SEND CHOCOLATE!!!!!!!!!!!!

HELP!!!! I am having a chocolate attack!!!!!!!

A New twist for All Chocolate Lovers`````````

Sore Toes: Dip Your Feet Into This.

A chocolate foot soak is made from the following ingredients:
-- 8 tablespoons of cocoa powder
-- 6 tablespoons of powdered milk
-- 4 drops of cinnamon essential oil
-- 4 drops of peppermint essential oil
-- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
-- 8 large marshmallows
-- 20 chocolate kisses. (The spa recommends that 21 be used,
but one is saved for snacking.)
-- Enough warm water to cover to the ankles.
After mixing the ingredients, except for the kisses, soak in
the mouse-like mess then drop in the chocolate kisses and use
them as a lumpy massager. Scrubbing with 1 cup of sugar mixed
with half a cup of olive oil is the capper. Makes you wonder
what Dr. Scholl's might have in the wings.

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

What a waste of good chocolate this recipe would be. I would MUCH rather eat chocolate than soak my feet in it. LOL

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

No way! I could never poke my feet into dessert. I would much prefer eating the yummy ingredients and soaking my feet in some silky massage oil.

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Right ON Aimee! If it is going to go to waste it may as well go to my waist. And if you saw me you would see that I live by that credo!

Albany (again), NY(Zone 5b)

Go check out Angelsong's secret snack trade - it was great fun last year and yes, there was definitely chocolate to be enjoyed.
