There are so many new people and I want to get to know you all. What brought you to DG ? If you have been around awhile you know my story the trade tracker brought me here. I never really came here much until DG started to change and change it did. But the trade tracker is not all DG is about now I am curious to see why all you newbies are signing on. By the way welcome you will love it here and will never want to leave.
What brought you to DG?
Mystic...you know what brought me...GOD...he knew I would need the support and laughter from all of you when I lost my DH!! Thank you all again! Now, Newbies...let's hear from some of you! Jo
I was surfing the net,(Snugglebug),bunch of infant blankets,then I saw a garden spot,had a bunch of double daturas to share,so I took a look,I'm here,snugglebug isn't,would have liked to say thanks.ATTT!
I was reading an old gardening book my MIL gave me by Beverly Nichols and was looking up what a plant was and the search lead me here.
A few months ago on a snowy night, I asked the search engine to find out who else might be dreaming of summer gardens.
well, in puutarha.net, which is Finnish gardenforum......I watched Everts personal info..........there is link in DG and PDB.......I went in PDB.....and it appeared very nice place......I met nice people.............so, I asked for Evert that what kind of place is this Dg...............................----->----->---->=so I joined.
and I haven`t repented it....
What a great thread. Thanks, Mystic. I often wonder about the new people, what led them here, what made them stay. You are so clever to think of asking here.
When the previous gardener could no longer care for the gardens here, I volunteered. In searching for information on the web to help me in my garden plans I stumbled onto DG and found more than just gardening information - friends to give me encouragement and hope as I fumble and stumble through the day.
It was Roadrunner and lizh that led me here. While I'm not an avid gardener,I really love it here and know that if I have a question there will be someone who has the answer.
I'm really don't remember how I found DG; probably a search engine. I am sure glad I found this place though.
A ton of great people.

What brought me to Daves Garden? I did a search using Google for 'gardening+starting seeds indoor' - up came 77 pages of gardening sites. I spent almost an entire day opening every one of those sites and when I came to DG - found it to be extremely interesting. I joined immediately. I recently retired and find that in this short span of time I look forward every morning to DG newsletter for the day. I have coffee and come back to my computer and see what new posts have been made.
I am new to gardening. Live in an apartment - but that hasn't stopped me from enjoying gardening in the summer. Last summer I had 46 pots of various plants (flowers, herbs and hostas and oh yes, brugmansia's or daturas. In the space of a very few weeks now I have learned so much from all of you. I think Dave's Garden is the best of the best!
I don't remember what I was searching for, but suddenly there was Dave's Garden, and I have been stuck here ever since.
I don't know anybody that gardens, and have always felt a bit alien. Dave's is like finding the planet I came from.
A search engine led me to DG! I typed in Gardening Forums and this is one that came up....once I saw the beautiful home page and the incredible variety of forums, I was hooked and I subscribed a few days later. I am so happy I did! I have learned so much from reading through the old and new threads and everyone is so kind and helpful. Dave, thank you for creating this! DG is a treasure!
Somebody opened the door and whizzed me in here! I haven't found my way out yet, so have settled in and made myself right at home. ô¿ô
You and I both know what brought me here! Um, I believe it was YOU! LOL They haven't thrown me out yet, so here I am... STILL! :)
It was a search engine on google for me too! I have met some of the most wonderful, dear, kind, giving, sharing, people on DG than I've ever met in my whole life. And I'm OLD!!!! ROFLOL
I was researching daylily rust, trying to find out about a few of the mail-order nurseries, and found the Garden Watchdog! Fantastic part of the garden. Then I found the tradelists, and started furiously trading plants, a member became my garden angel. Love the people and the site!
PDB looking up info for my Master Gardener class.
ignorance brought me here. i was my first year gardening, in 2000. i found dave's garden, a group of giving and caring individuals, with dave and trish who have made a fantastic website. the changes that have taken place on this website are phenominal. dave and other garden members have worked extremely hard to bring us these extensive improvements. and you all continue to help me with simple and complex knowledge. what brought me here...YOU!
i guess this is a good time to say thanks to you all.

Jane from Mayo brought me here
I was directed to DG when it was still just pretty much a place for people to put their seed trade lists. I was quite impressed. (Back then I thought it was a private website and being the idiot I am, didn't want to pry LOL). A few months later I needed to look at that member's trade list again and saw a few forums but still didn't pop in. Then a friend wrote to me a few Aprils ago and told me to take another look. I did and here I am.
Look at the responses seems most found their way by a search engine or from one of the other great features of DG, the plants database or the watchdog and some from their friends. Whatever the reason sure glad your all here. DG is great and Dave and Trish and Go-Vols do a great job. But it's all the members just like you that make this place special.
Several of us were at another site and were finding it more & more unfriendly to Christians. Downright hostile at times. Some of them found DG and notified the others. I've never regretted the switch and obviously none of them have either. Most of us can be found at Farm Life Forum.
I too was at that other non-friendly site. I was worried about getting sent to Disney and one of my friends suggested that I try Dave's. I came here and hardly ever get to any other site on the net now. I am happy here and have met some really great people and have even been able to ask for prayers for myself and friends and nobody gets upset with me. TY to all of you for your kind and caring and generous natures, it is truly the people here that make DG great!
Last spring I testified for the Department of Agriculture to bust a crime syndicate smuggling zucchini squash into the country. As a member of their witness protection program, I was whisked from court, handed a pair of garden gloves, a floppy hat, and a $15 subscription from Dave's. I've never looked back.
Weez, what a story!
LOL weez, you sure do brighten my day.

Those must have been some crook-neck squash, huh? (ROTFL)
HAH!!! Pretty good, Vols! ;>)
Weez, I must say, I love your humor! I think I found DG via a search I did for a plant on Google. This is the first site that's held my daily interest for more than a week or two, and the first site which had people on it I really wanted to MEET in "real" life. It's just a great bunch of folks here.
I can't remember exactly what I was researching on the internet because I was always looking up something....I will just say that I believe God is who brougnt me here and I am thankful daily.
Bad puns are a specialty - just ask my family ;0)
Well, I know we're wanting to know how the newbies got here, but I'll play, too.
I got here via a websearch. Months before that, I had found that other site, and exchanged a few seeds, but never really felt at home there. Thanks to a morning spent Googling, I found my way here. Came back the next day, and the next day, and the next....now I've got a really comfy spot worn in the seat of my 'puter chair. I can tell you exactly how old the dust bunnies under the beds are - they originated two years ago, right after I signed up here, and they've been multiplying steadily ever since.
Weez you are a hoot, missed seeing your post for awhile. Heck I don't care if your newbies or oldies its fun finding out how we all got here. Terry I know what ya mean about those dust bunnies. I can't walk past the puter without having to check out DG.
I wish dustbunnies would feed on cat and dog hair. That would be da bomb!
Gardenwife, at one time I *thought* the dustbunnies were feeding on the CAT, not just the fur LOL. They were dustMONSTERS by then ;D
I don't know exactly how it happened that i stumbled on DG...it just did. I think I was looking for gardening information in anticipation of doing some landscaping and got one of the forum postings in the search I did. Floridian was so kind as to buy me a one year membership for Christmas and here I am. I'm HOOOKED! Hubby knows if I'm on the computer that I'm on DG more likely than not. It's an addiction. I'm going to have to cut back very soon as I've got a new job after being unemployed for over 4 months. I will still be around to share my knowledge and pictures and, of course, ask questions :)
