Could not see Dave's Garden

Last night about 11:00 p.m. Pacific time I could not see Dave's Garden. Other sights seemed to not be acessible either but then in a bit they were almost normal but still when I tried Dave's I would see "resolving host" and nothing more.

I suspect that this was an internet problem, does anyone know?

Dave is working on upgrading the system and has run into some problems which he is working through. Hang in there and I'm sure that he will get things fixed as soon as possible. In the meantime connecting to DG may be hit and miss.

Could there maybe be a message up on the top of the welcome page indicating there are intermittent server problems due to a hardware upgrade taking place? I had someone write and ask me if it was just them who couldn't get in -- this person was afraid s/he'd been "Disneyed".

I know it's not so great to advertise computer problems, but it might clear up some confusion. Or maybe an e-mail could go out to current members?

It's already on the front page. The Hardware Upgrade thread (in which I describe the on-going problems) is "watched" by -all- members (I caused that to happen).

So, anyone who hits the front page, will see the thread.

And, if they haven't hit the front page, then putting an extra message up there won't do anything more for them.

(BTW - the server will be down again in about an hour)

GW, what does it mean to be "Disneyed"? Am not familiar with that.

There's another gardening site which has a not-so-kind webmaster who, when he took a dislike to someone, would set it up so the person was automatically forwarded to the Disney website when s/he tried logging into the gardening site. Many people here at DG are refugees, so to speak, having fled that site for the friendlier climes here at DG.

Not nice! Wow, what a nasty thing to do to people. Thank you for explaining, GW.
