The picture doesn't do this house justice. It is a really neat house. However, I heard that the inside needs mega $$$$.

We live on the main street here and we are always watching them bring houses by here, but I must admit their not that big!! My kids get the biggest charge outta watching them bring a house down the road. They would have loved watching that one for sure!!

Our neighbors bought a house that was displaced by Twin Cities airport last summer. The house moving company purchased the houses, then resold them. Neighbors house traveled 140 miles get at its new spot. When it was ready for them to move into it was still only about ½ the cost of a new house. It was originally built in the 60's.

Wow that certainly is a big house to move. I have seen a couple here even brick ones that say free, you move. Some that have been lilke that for years, never stopped to see how interior condition is... Maybe I should?!?!? My friends mom got one like that and it only cost 15,000 to move and it was a brick like 1500 sq ft house :)

Lisa here at DG had a house moved several years ago - she posted a picture here at this DG http://davesgarden.com/t/9383/ in 2001. Not quite as large as that big one, though! Her little house they moved down the road, not clear across town.

My parents retirement home used to be my Fathers office. It was given to him when the hospital bought the property. They moved it six blocks and had to pay extra for every wire that had to be lifted along the path of the move. It was pretty expensive as I remember it to have it moved and that was in the early 1970's. Dad and I remodeled it. With the full basement it was about 2500 square feet. Not as big as the one in the hyperlink!

I did not get to watch the move - too many things going on this weekend. I visited with a friend who was working out at a nearby fitness center and got to watch it for awhile. He said the whole thing was quite the sight. The street that it originated from is one of the busiest in Lincoln. All of the street lights had to be moved. They had to go over one bridge - I wondered about that bridge being able to withstand all that weight.

When my parents house was moved I walked along the street with the thing. It was a very fun albiet long day! Interesting to watch all the tree limbs be bent back to allow it to pass and the wires moved over it. Some of the wires didn't have enough play in them and had to be disconnected and then reconnected. Quite a process!

wouldn't THAT bridge collapsing have made it a house boat? OR a Boat House?

Waaahaaaahahaahahahahahaha :~)
