Happy Burns Day

Jesteburg-Wiedenhof, Germany(Zone 8a)

Today is Robert Burns Day in Scotland, and in Russia.
Robert Burns is Scotland's national bard, and most know his song "Auld Lang Syne", which is sung all over the world at the turn of the year.
Burns Suppers will be held worldwide today, and all of next week commemorating what is arguably the world's greatest poet.
Burns was born, and raised, in humble circumstances, and during his working life worked as an exciseman, and a ploughman. He loved the ladies, and some of his most beautiful poems were written to either one of his wives, or one of the many girlfriends with whom he spent his life.
His works are also loved in Russia, yes even today, as Burns was praised by all, both right and left wing, for his social comment.
I would like to post some poems by Burns, commemorating a great Scotsman, Christian, Free Mason, and what better poem to start of with of DG as probably one of the most beautiful love songs ever written:

A RED, RED ROSE

O my Luve's like a red, red rose,
That's newly sprung in June:
O my Luve's like the melodie,
That's sweetly play'd in tune.

As fair art thou, my bonie lass,
So deep in luve am I;
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a' the seas gang dry.

Till a' the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi' the sun;
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
While the sands o' life shall run.

And fare-thee-weel, my only Luve!
And fare-thee-weel, a while!
And I will come again, my Luve,
Tho' 'twere ten thousand mile!

Beautiful! Feel free to post more, as I know "The Complete Works of Robert Burns" is a mere appetizer. And were you not going to email me one of a sensitive nature, not appropriate to post here? Did I dream that?

Thanks, and I agree with Eyes, you old romantic, you!
