fewer forums?

Panama, NY(Zone 5a)

Is my brain frozen, or are there fewer forums? I'm not complaining, just curious. I have trouble keeping track of the 5 or 6 that I try to keep up with, so I can understand that when all's said and done fewer might be better. . .

Dave did some "spring cleaning" earlier this month...a few forums that were not active were deleted.

I thought maybe. So how long did it take for me to notice?? My brain really is frozen. lol

hehe Kathleen he said nobody would miss them, the only one anybody missed was added back. lol Which one did you miss?I think it was his new year's spring cleaning.

I had missed a few when I noticed his post about it, but wasn't surprised. I didn't know any were returned, though. Maybe I should go to forums to see what's happening in the garden. Wild Plants was one I had hoped would grow on people, but it really didn't. I wish there was some good source for information on harvesting seeds from wildflowers growing in this area, because often I can't find the seeds until they have already popped out, or don't know what the seed really looks like so I'm not sure what to save and plant. Texas A&M started providing some of that, but it wasn't enough variety to help me much. I collect things I can't get from the commercial sources, and often they are few and far between, with several years going by with small displays. I realize wildflowers are probably not grown enough to warrant this forum.

Aimee~ I missed the wild plants forum too, but after thinking about it, it must be that not enough people actually participated in it.

to be honest, I didn't miss a particular forum, but Wild Plants is one that I had visited in the past. Things here have been rather crazy with one thing and another and some days I make it to the Farm Forum and Roses and that's about it. It was the number at the top of my home page that I noticed.

The thing with so many specialized forums is, people tend to get into their little niche and not circulate so much, I think. I know I'm like that unless I have a specific plant or topic I want to learn more about. There's year-old DG members I've never met because we've never crossed paths on the forums. But one of the things I likewise LOVE about DG is that off-topic or misposted threads are dealt with politely and moved to their appropriate spot.

Will some of the forums that are not appearing at this time, be re-introduced in the Spring, Summer, or Fall?

I was thinking specifically of the "Grass" forum. Morph & I didn't see it any longer and I thought it would have been an excellent forum to let other ornamental grass lovers know that Purple Majesty's Millet will be available through the Co-op forum. Anyone who is interested better hurry up! There is a deadline!!!

Well I did notice that the hydrangea forum had disappeared and not surprised really since we had so few enthusiasts.

Yes, the forums that I removed, I did not delete. I simply disabled them. I do have the ability to put them right back in, and, if there is interest in them as Spring comes, I'll do just that.

I for one would love to have the wild plant one back. I work out in the countryside quite a lot and it was a good place to show plants I come across and hear about what other people find. I think that one was a useful reference even if the traffic wasn't that heavy

I'd certainly like to be able to post pictures there of the spring wild flowers as they arrive - which will be soon Dave.............:) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

Hello Everyone..I'm brand new to the site but just wanted to agree that a forum on the wild flowers/plants would be great! I and my parents over the years have fallen in love with wild flowers/plants and have a strong effort in attempting to transplant those being detroyed at new construction sights, etc. Any insight from such a knowledgable group would be great! Stay warm everyone!

Aimee,
have you see this site on identifying seeds, http://theseedsite.co.uk/db6. I have found it very helpful.
check it out! :)

Thanks for the link, Miss. It should be a useful supplement for me.
