The House Of Your Dream's!!!!

Cape May Court House, NJ(Zone 7a)

If you guy's want to see the house of your dream's take a look at my brother in law's website, but I must warn you there are some REALLY BIG BEAUTIFUL HOUSE'S on it that he has built so go hide your checkbook and DON'T call your credit card companies to see about an increase in your limit!!!!

Most of the house's are right on the beach either in Stone Harbor or Avalon and the price's for just the lot's (YES THAT MEAN"S WITHOUT HOUSE) go for around 500 thousand dollar's and up! (GROSS)

Anyway enjoy the window shopping!!!!

My house (BEFORE FIRE) is on the second page top left, but somehow it just does not fit in with the rest of the MONSTER'S!!!!! (hehe )

BUT I do have the best looking lawn, don't you agree??

Sue yes they are lovely and too big for me but still prefer yours as it was. How are things coming along now? I was thinking of you only yesterday!!

Seems like they just don't fit the area! Small lots & I love the power poles in the front lawns & all the wires in the pictures! LOL!
Take my good old (1920's) HOME in the wide open country anytime!

Sue, I surely like yours the best of all. I am not a fan of pretentious homes anyway and also I like one story as I do not want to carry laundry up stairs!
I sure hope your new home is coming along fine and that you will be in it this spring in time for spring planting.
Thanks for the look at the other side of the tracks. LOL

To be honest I think those big monster houses are REALLY a waste of money! The one's up on the beach are just summer home's but some have the coolest features in them, not very practial but COOL!!! Like the one with the heated tile bathroom floor in the master bathroom! Now what would a nice hot shower be without stepping out on to a cold floor!!! hehe

As for my house, it is comming along fine! I will try to get a few picture's to show you guy's soon!

Louisa my ear's were ringing and now I know why!!! THANK'S for thinking of me!!!!

What's the big deal with heated bathroom floor. Many houses here have floor heat in the entire house. My brothers house
has electric heat pads under the concrete floor. We spent the night there a couple of weekends ago. Very nice. House is heated with this floor heat. Has a wood fireplace in living room & gas one in master bedroom. House is one story, no basement. Laundry room is right off the kitchen. Washer & dryer are both front loading and sit up off the floor about 18". No laundry up & down stairs or bending over either. Nice part, their house sits in a woods of
9 1/2 acres. He cut the trees out of the way & used them for his recroom walls.

ruby, wish you the best on your new house & that you will be in it soon!

Man! I live in a cracker box! LOL To be honest, I'd take any of them if they were given away for free! giggle And with five kids, I doubt any of them are even big enough. Now, if I can be a bit pushy, can we move one to a five acre lot??? I love your house Sue. I love all of them. One of my very first, somewhat [deleted] apartments had one luxury item that I still miss today. There was a special heater behind the towel bar in the bathroom and with the flip of a switch, you had a nice hot towel waiting after your bath/shower. Another luxury from another apt. that I really miss was the fireplace! My dream house is a big old country style house with a wrap around porch, and a rear ground level walk out, and a portacove with front and rear entries and an attached garage with a greenhouse for a second floor...........See, I don't want much. :)

Country Gardens, having a heated bathroom floor in a million+ dollar home that one uses only a few weekends in the hot and humid NJ summers seems a bit excessive, if not downright obscene. John

Oh goodness chele now you have given me an idea for my dream home... A second floor thats a greenhouse... Can you just imagine ??? WOW you remember that movie that the guy had a fern greenhouse on the roof.. I don't remember name, but it was awesome temperature controlled and all it was an action movie i think though or some thing like that. I just remember he had 100's of diff types of ferns and it was neat and wa son top of penthouse suite!

Katrina, how about Nero Wolfe, who had an orchid greenhouse on the top floor?

Old Town (Gainesvill, FL(Zone 8a)

Not familiar with that one???

Nero Wolfe is Rex Stout's fictional detective. He has a four story townhouse, as I recall, with an elevator to the top floor, which is given over to 10,000 orchids; these figure prominently in the mysteries. Here is an interesting link to a page about the orchids:

More power to the people who can afford them. I wouldn't want to see the real estate tax bill nor heating and cooling bill for the yr.

Lovely homes, but not my dream. Steve and I have more room now than we use and we are seldom further than 3' apart at any given moment.
Although they were lovely and spacious inside, not much distance between neighbors (that wouldn't work for me). I often wonder when I see huge homes around here why, if you can afford such an expensive home, why wouldn't you put it somewhere secluded instead of in a cornfield with no trees?

Can't wait to see your new home pics, if it is anything like the one you lost, I am sure it is fabulous.

Sure wish this house had heat cables in the floor when the winter is here. That tile floor gets so cold that my feet get cold even with shoes on! Brrrrrr

We would love a greenhouse but like Maxine, the expense of keeping it heated and cooled year round has stopped us.

An attached garage is nice except when the gas fumes get into the house. YUCK.

One thing that I miss from houses in the past is the gas range. I loved that instant on and instant off. Also miss a laundry room, large pantry, and large bedrooms that I had. The 10 by 10 spare bedrooms in this home are too small thus making wall to wall furniture.

We built a new house almost two year's ago and I still wish I had opted for a smaller one. But hubbie insisted because of visiting families. It's 2,500 sq.ft and with just two of us and two cats, it's still too big in my opinion. All I do is clean, clean, clean. When I think back to my cottage in England, we managed very well in a smaller space and I had more time. Heck, I used to go to work, come home, cook, clean house, manage an acre garden full of perennials and roses and still have time for my crafts. Maybe it's got nothing to do with the size of the house, maybe it's because I'm older and running out of steam!! Yes, that has to be it!!
