Mattress suggestions?

High Springs, FL(Zone 8b)

DH and I are going bed shopping this weekend. Any recommendations on what type to buy, or which ones to stay away from?

When I have to do that again, I intend to look for one of those things with sleep numbers. Sometimes I need a different firmness for some reason, and that would allow me to adjust accordingly. My son has one and they love it. It seems to me the people I know who have one are quite pleased with it. It might also prolong the life of the mattress, because as it packed down and felt different in a few years, you might be able to restore some of the firmness it had when you bought it. I never like a new mattress, but any sagging is also unacceptable.

Aimee, those Sleep Number beds look great, don't they? If we could afford it, I'd sure like to try one. Our current bed set is almost 10 years old (it had a 10-year warranty) and at this point, ANYTHING new would be a vast improvement!

Amaryllis-gal, I have a Select Comfort air mattress. I haave had it for 9 years and i love it. I have the single control as I am a widow and don't need two contols. I don't turn the little air compressor on very often since I have found the right for me comfort zone. rutholive (Donna)

We replaced our mattress recently (with a local brand, I don't they sell on the East Coast). It's a double pillow-top mattress, so no matter what side you flip over, you're resting on a pillowtop cushion. It's extremely comfortable, but one thing we didn't realize was that it was exactly twice as tall as our very old mattress! So our fitted sheets no longer fit and we had to go out and buy new ones! There went another $130!!

dh and I bought a select comfort mattress a couple of years ago and it was the best thing we ever bought. we have the dual controls and the quiet air machine. I just had surgery and don't feel a thing when dh turns over.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

We had one made at the Original Mattress Factory. It was right over $500 for a king size mattress. Woo Hoo is it grand! Same thing as above, that thing is FAT! LOL But, it is way comfy too. :)
