Thank you Starzz, I saw a pic of my gazebo in a magazine and my Uncle lenny said without a doubt he could build it. It is 15' wide so he made it in two pieces( each level) and drove it down on a trailer piece by piece to my house ( about 1/2 hour away) and then the final touches still need to be done like the rest of railing and gingerbread trim.
Everyone pictures enspired me to take a trip to a local nursery that runs all year, I just wandered around forever.
And..... I only came home with a varigated wandering Jew plant. ( Half price)!!

Canadian gardens
I wandered around 2 on Sunday and came home empty handed LOL.
Soon our local Nurseries will be stocking up for the post "Canada Blooms" crowd. This show always gets folks motivated in March.
For me to come home with only one plant and a houseplant at that is unusual.
I must admit I am still thinking on this huge Bird of paridise they had ( only $99 and 9feet tall), not to mention the huge brug tree they had.
Canada blooms is a place I have not been to yet, Last year when it was on I actually forgot and missed it.
Oh well, I would just come home broke anyways.

Crystal, my sister in law lives in the Gatineau and makes a pilgrimage to Canada Blooms every year. She said last year wasn't as good as prior years. The next big one around here is the Seattle show - 3rd week of Feb. The second largest in the US. Then ours doesn't happen until end of May/beginning June.
But to keep our spirits up we have all the big local garden clubs sales to look forward to. That's where I go broke.
Liz- ah shucks your just trying to make me feel better:)
Well kinda glad to hear that since I did miss it. I think yours is a nice time to have it since the toronto one seems just to early for me.

LOL - and I think our's is too late. Our gardens start in February - early February. By June, there isn't much room for us to add anything new. But they like to have ours outdoors at VanDusen Gardens on the Great Lawn - and I guess the chances of a sunny day in February in Vancouver are slim to none.
The Seattle one is indoors though - hugely successful.
Crys, your gazebo is just beautiful. At my other place I had a carpenter build a gazebo for me, it was 10 feet and i loved it. Here at this location, where i have been for 7 years, I just over a year ago bought a metal gazebo that a woman in CourD'alene ID built. It was built in 6 sections. She delivered it here on her way to Seattle, my garden helper and his wife and I put it together. That was in Sept. 2001, so I didn't have time to plant much around it that year. Last year, I planted several vines, one climbing rose and some evergreens. It will take a year or tw
o more for the vines to grow enough to provide much shade.
Liz, I really wanted to go to Seattle to the North West garden show there in Feb, but before I knew the date I had signed up to go with friends on our twice yearly bus trip to Reno and it is the the same week. I did go last year and it was much nicer since they enlarged the space for it. I do really enjoy going to the show but have always only spent part of one day as it was a bus tour. Donna (rutholive)
well, rutholive, our B.C. Home and garden show is the same time as the Seattle show...talk about them apples!!!!!!!! E.
Lovely Crystal - just lovely. And it looks so hot and sunny.
Thanks, Oh how I wish that was the truth for right now. Our windchills are -30 and I am freezing to death!!
We had to get both fireplaces roaring just to keep the chill off.

Pretty flowers Liz..what are they?
Cheers,
Carol
It's a Kousa Dogwood tree.
Good morning everyone ~~
More pictures - I need to see more pictures.
Another beauty ~
No, the Kousas bloom later than the other dogwoods - in June.
Nice Liz..would you believe that I don't have a dogwood tree?
I'll keep that name and see if I ever come across one.
Weez..you bet..we'll have a virtual garden going here for sure..and chase away the chills....it's -15 c here..
I aways enjoy your photos.
Brug..I'm jealous..lucky you..
Crys..that's very prety..so soft..looks like it was taken in the morning.
Ok..here is another photo.....
this is my sister's pond....London Ontario
Pop in any time Weezingreens. Gardens don't know anything about international borders and neither do we when it comes to pretty pics. :)
Liz told me we need more pics so here is one I got back yesterday. It is Brugmansia Insignis Pink ( your cutting Brugcrazy) but the colour is a washed out in this pic. and really is much pinker than this portrays.
RA49 Love it!! Show me more!!!

Darn, I was afraid someone would aks me that !
It is a Miscanthus, I think 'Morning Light'. I also have 'Autumn Light' and the variegation on the foliage between the 2 are reversed and I can never keep them straight.
Liz..what is the name of the Peony????? E.
what a great thread! I have really enjoyed all your gardens! I must now look up what castor bean blooms look like.
Miss Lizzy, is that a pink rose behind your pink brug?
thanks
Yes, Liz, that's a geranium. It's our wild geranium, G. erianthum. It adapts well to the garden and is very hardy. I have seeds if you are interested.
Here's some Malva sylvestris ssp. mauritiana. It's a perennial, but doesn't seem to come back in our climate. However, it blooms like this in the first year, so I can treat it as an annual. I had a huge pot with three plants, and they were tall and full of blooms. They produce lots of seed, too.
there you go, Liz,.........look at this thread goooooooo! E.
Which thread Elaine?
Oh Boy..talk about a green thumb! Wow!
I haven't started anything yet..never have too much luck with seedlings..but I do try a few things.
