DG running at snail's pace

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

FYI: Just wanted to note that it's running very slowly for some reason. Other sites I'm visiting are not. Anyone else notice this, or is it just my ISP?

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Same here.:)

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

No problems here, and I'm accessing the site behind two ponds...

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Now it's running fine. It was just for a short time, then it started working great again.

Momentary blip in the Matrix, I guess! ;)

I have noticed it, too, and thought it was my ISP or puter (which it could well be) -- began noticing extreme but intermittent slowness a couple of days ago, actually.

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Yes, it is definitely running slowly, but so am I. Good night :~)

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

It was running just great for me a few minutes ago and all of a sudden it is taking about 15 seconds for some of the pages to come up. Maybe it won't last, but for right now, I feel like there is lead in the drawers.... :-)

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Real slow for me right now.....

Some server in Poland was sucking down pages at the rate of 12 per second. Some people can be so inconsiderate. :(

I firewalled them off the server and we're back to normal now.

Thank you, Dave! You are really on top of all situations that arise here and it is much appreciated.

Coolness. Thanks, Dave. :)

Come on, Poland is a nice country with nice people. Even our queen was once Polish. :}

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Gosh, this is working great now. I've noticed this happen nearly every day for a few days. Thanks Dave.

It is awfully sssslllloooowwww again!

I'm on a dial-up connection, so I always wonder if it's my computer or ISP -- but I, too, have noticed a dramatic slowing several times a day for a couple of weeks. Sometimes it takes 45 seconds for a page to load, and once a page took two full minutes.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

I noticed another slowdown today, too. It was earlier, like around 8-ish, maybe?

GW, I have noticed it happening three or four times a day for about two weeks -- each slowdown lasts between 15-30 minutes. It usually happens during the morning and afternoon, but sometimes in the evening, too.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8a)

up here in Canada, it's slow also....our Canadian snails??? Elaine

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Must be the cold up there, 1601!

It's running super-slow right now; each page takes 30-45 seconds to load.

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

When one uses a computer with a 14,400 modem, everything is slow, so I just don't use it as much. Not much fun if I fall asleep while I wait.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

I remember those days, Aimee! I think the first modem we had was a 9600 or 14.4 modem, back in 1994, I think. Of course, most of the things I accessed were on text-based bulletin boards. For speed I went to the computer lab at the university where I worked.

Around 5:45pm today DG was running very slowly. From the time I clicked the link to one of my watched threads to the time it opened, I counted 41 seconds. Yet on some other threads, the page loads were quicker. It was still slow overall, though.

Time for DSL or Cable. If I couldn't afford it I would quit eating first.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

That's how I am, Max. I'd give up, oh, a leg before I let 'em come disconnect the cable modem!

Grove City, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh, man, y'all haven't lived until you use a 1200 bps modem! Yep, my first one was 1200. Upgraded to a 2400. Yeah, I know, dinosaur :D

300 baud in the early 80's for me. :) Where's kmom246? I bet she would like to get in on the contest. My dad says he once had a 175 baud modem (I think it's was 175, which I always though an odd number.)

Grove City, OH(Zone 6a)

Dave, I think the old Commodore 64 used an odd-number baud rate. Not sure about that: I got rid of mine in '81 when the IBM PC came out! 256k rather than 64k!!!

You win about the slowest modem; do I win about the earlier PC? LOL I even had an Apple II (pre-IIc)

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

REEAALLY SLOWWW tonight - it's 5:50 PST. I thought everyone was supposed to be watching the football game.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

You haven't seen the score, everyone is watching for the commercials now,LOL
