I'll pull for them if you tell me you pulled for the Dawgs (SUGAR BOWL CHAMPS!!)

Actually I did. We met some people from Georgia on our trip and he was a big bulldogs fan. So when I watch games like that, that is games I have no personal interest in. I root for the team I have some kind of connection with. It makes it a little more fun.

:) I'll pull for your Buckeyes then:) I'm the same way.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

I'll watch it if I can get it to come in on the TV. We only have a TV antenna and it really needs replaced. I feel the sudden urge to visit my father-in-law who has cable! Wouldn't it be so nice to say "The National Champion Ohio State Buckeyes" ?!!

GO BUCKEYES!!!!!!!!!!!

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

That's what I'm hoping to be able to say. You better start heading to FIL. I would not miss this for any thing.

Cleveland, OH(Zone 5b)

YEAH!!!! GO BUCKS!!! AND....... GO BROWNS!!!!!!
CLEVELAND VS PITTSBURGH (NFL)

Well I know you pulled for Auburn so I'll have to pull for OHIO STATE. Strange how things in the past have a way of adding flavor to the way you feel about things. I remember the coach Woody Hayes that coached there that attacked a player from another team on the sideline. I always pulled for the team they were playing after that. Now that I've gotten a little age on me I can understand why he acted that way. Age has a way of making a sweet dispostioned person (like me and Woody) act in a strange way at times. At least that's what I tell Bobbie when I start acting strange.

Speaking of Woody that was a true Woody style game. BUCKS WIN 31 TO 24 IN DOUBLE OVERTIME! OHIO STATE BUCKEYES, NATIONAL CHAMPIONS! How sweet it is.

Howie, I told DH about your post here, and as soon as the game was over he said your friend from Ohio must be a very happy guy. Dh said it was a great finale.

Congrats Buckeyes

Mom and I were at the Super Wal-Mart when the game ended. It was hilarious...The store was almost deserted, and of those shopping, very few men were to be seen. A couple of times, pages came over the intercom for someone in electronics to pick up on line 2. The last page intoned, "Will an electronics associate -- will ANY associate -- pick up the call on line 2?!".

I expected the person to follow up with "Will any customer who knows what electronics are pick up on line 2?"

As we finished up shopping and headed to the checkout, we heard a tremendous roar of a crowd. Practically everyone was in the snack/cafe area just inside the front doors, cheering at the big-screen TV that had been set up. HUGE roars, three of them. It must have been the tie-breaking points and then the winning touchdown.

You never heard such a roar at a Wal-Mart, carried as through a megaphone through the cinderblock cafe and into the store! It was hilarious!

Sidenote: Just saw something on TechTV's "The Tech Of" about football equipment. They said the force hitting a football player's helmet in a collision is the same as if a bowling ball were dropped from 100 feet above onto the helmet. Isn't THAT something?? It sure makes you appreciate how much goes into protecting the players' heads.

Can you imagine a University of Michigan grad cheering for the BUCKS? I did this time.
As the Aussies say-Good on ya!!

All Right! I get to say it! The National Champion Ohio State Buckeyes!! Simply amazing! A fitting end to a nail-biting season.

gardenwife: I take it you are not as big a fan as your husband or else just couldn't stand the tension!

pfjewell: Good for you for being true to the Big Ten! I think I would have cheered for anyone playing Miami as the Hurricanes appear to have been way overrated. Since the Cooper era is over, I must warn you that U of M will no longer be guaranteed a win against OSU every year. Congratulations too to the Wolverines for winning their bowl game.

I'm not a sports fan, period. I can watch baseball -- I understand those simple rules -- but never learned to appreciate football. Had a dad who was a real boor to the family when it was on (as in, don't even breathe while a game's on), so I was a little soured to it. I'm coming around...Slowly... ;)
