Happy Homecoming for Gracie

I just wanted to share some really great news this afternoon. Our best friends just adopted their second little one, Gracie, born this last Tuesday. She's home now with her excited parents and older brother. We're heading over to meet her in a little while...Can't wait!

In the meantime, we thought it would be fun to start a homecoming thread for her and print it out in a week or so for our friends. We talk so much about you guys here and how friendly everyone is, so you all were some of the first people we wanted to tell! :)

Well shut mah pie-hole! I love it when a family grows! Congrats to them all, the parents and Gracie! Parents and children offer Life and good "nutrition" to each other...a wonderful system, eh?

Awww What a wonderful Christmas present!! For all of them, even Gracie. I love that name too. I'm sure she will always put that little extra sunshine in your lives.

Introducing....Gracie Elysabeth! She's a pint-sized 5lbs 14oz right now, down a few ounces since her birth Tuesday. Just a wee babe, and ooooh, so cuddly. :)

LOL your best invisible friend. Hi Amy, nice to meet you even though I can't see you. Gracie is so cute and I am sure she is a very welcome addition to your family. I sure hope that she can see you even when others can't. That would be a true blessing indeed for all of you. Children are the honey of life. Sometimes too sticky for words but sweet as candy when you least expect it. You and your family will be in my prayers for a long and great life together. Hugs for the baby, Lani

I keep going back and looking at that gorgeous, gorgeous little girl-child's face. Too bad they don't have monarchy in Ohio, for Gracie Elysabeth surely has the face of a queen. What a blessing to her family for Christmas!

We went to dinner at their house tonight and I got some pictures of Gracie with her eyes open. Yes, she does have pupils, honest! :) She was so alert tonight, just looking around and working her little mouth. She was especially taken with the rows of books in the dining room bookshelves - could not take her eyes off all the colorful book spines!

All right! Another reader! Now you definitely need to get DK's "Oddkins," though she's a bit young for the scary parts. The second shot is so precious. She is definitely "grace."

She's beautiful! What a great Christmas story this has been to see unfold.

Wow, she really is a beauty, and there is clearly a sweetness and knowingness in her nature that is captivating.

Nice to really "see" you Amy. Little Grace is so very cute and I am sure she will keep you on your toes for many a year into the future. God has greatly blessed your family with this mighty soul which I am sure you already know. I know that this was a wonderful Christmas for you all.

She looks so very alert and aware! It's always so touching to me to watch a new little psyche being imprinted with first impressions. The people around her will be in her mind forever, and they are obviously planting very positive images for her to use in her responses to people for a lifetime. Keep it up, all of you, this is so heartwarming.

She is old enough this year to really enjoy Christmas! There is nothing better than a one-year-old under the tree! This is a little face that was made to be kissed. What a beauty.

Happy Almost Birthday Gracie. What a beauty she is. Dont forget to give her lots of big boxes to play in. All of mine for the first couple of years loved to play in the boxes before they would play with the toy. And boy is she going to have fun playing with the paper. woohoo. I wish I could be there to see. Take pictures if you can.

Gosh she is even more beautiful now. And what a wonderful age. I envy you..I haven't been around a one year old in awhile. Is she walking and talking? Once they can walk on their own two feet LOOK OUT!

A happy update: Child number three has been approved as theirs! Quinn is 2 1/2 years old and has been in a foster home since birth. The foster parents attend our friends' church and they've gotten to know him there. His foster parents were getting really attached to him and knew he needed to have a permanent adoptive family. There was another couple, friends of the caseworkers at the agency, who were the other consideration. Thank God, they saw the sense in letting Quinn go to a family who knows his foster parents so the transition can be done gradually and lovingly by both parties. We're so excited for our friends! :) I don't have a good picture of him yet, but I will soon.

GW, what a joy to watch this family increase! Looking forward to a family picture for our DG Christmas present.
