Gift subscription for a non-member

How can I do this? I have tried several times, but it keeps asking me for user name. I keep trying to type in the new name I would like to start for this person but it won't let me. Can I only give a gift subscription to a person who is alreay a member?

I believe you must first set up a username for the person, then subscribe that username. You could do so, then just explain to the person that s/he should change the password once they log in. That's what Whiterose had to do, and she was subscribing herself, so I assume it's the same for gift memberships.

To add onto what GW has written, you must set them up with a user name and a valid email address. Once you do that (or encourage them to do it themselves), then you can purchase a gift subscription for them.
