My priest was murdered!

Cleveland, OH(Zone 5b)

They shot him and set his office on fire! Saturday around noon. In broad daylight! Fr. William Gulas was such a kind and gentle human being. Please send your kind thoughts and prayers to the people in our parish, St. Stanislaus in Slavic Village, Cleveland, OH.
They have arrested two people. Please pray for them also.

Celia, how absolutely horrible! Yes, I am praying for this dear soul and those accused of killing him, for -- if they are guilty -- they are sorely in need of forgiveness and redemption. May God richly bless all those in your parish and everyone affected in any manner by this terrible crime, and may comfort descend on all of you. I am so, so sorry that this happened at all, and for it to have happened in the season of Christmas is sad beyond belief. God bless you and everyone whose life was touched by this peaceful man of God.

Prayers said for the parish and that he find a beautiful new home with the love and peace that he has given others.

What a devastating tragedy, for the family, the church and your community. Those responsible for such an act, will surely pay either now or later.

Cleveland, OH(Zone 5b)

It was just announced that it was Br. Dan (who also lived with the priests) who shot him. Apparently they had been arguing over Br. Dan being transferred.

Wow...that is a stunner. Praying for Br. Dan to ask for, and receive, forgiveness for this terrible act (if he has not already done so).

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

What a tragedy. praying for both Your priest, and Br. Dan as well as the parish who will be suffering also.

Thank you all for you kind words and sympathies. We will be holding a candle vigil this evening from the entire diocese.

Hughesville, MO(Zone 5a)

How terrible. My prayers will be with both the priest's family & parish and Bro. Dan. The level of anger someone must feel to commit such an act is beyond my imagination. May GOD be with all of you.

We have just returned from the candlelight vigil. There were so many people there to remember and mourn Fr. Willie. We are in shock that a member of the cloth could do such a thing. He must be such a troubled person. God have mercy on his soul! We are all grieving such a loss and such a tradegy! Our community will go on. With the faith Fr. William has helped us to know!

Celia, I am so sorry. Your whole parish must feel rudderless right now, yet -- as you say -- Fr. William has taught you how to go on. God bless each and every one of you.

This senseless act demonstrates how much we need to learn to deal with anger in a way that doesn't hurt anyone. It is such a tragedy for your community and the church. My prayers are with you all.

Last night, two good friends of mine who have an all-denominational sanctuary had it burned to the ground by arsonists who objected to one of the ministers' pleas for world peace. On any scale, the fruit of anger and intolerance is more hatred, more pain, more death. No one was killed in this particular fire, but the kind of rage that sparked it is murderous. When will we learn that God is One, and His house is the home of all?

Thank you for all your good wishes and prayers.
Anger is a very dangerous thing when not channeled in the right direction.
