Shoe says hey!

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Just talked to Shoe. They are holding up just fine but sure would like to have some power. At this point he still don't know when the power will be back on.The generators are working ok but he had to go to another town to find kerosene today. Alex is loving the snow and has been building up a storm. Pics to be seen when shoe makes it back to DG. Oh and I did find out the shoe question carol posted but don't want to ruin her thread so I am not telling. :) Anyway Shoe wanted me to tell the folks at DG Hey!

Thanks, Mystic! Really glad to hear Shoe and his family are okay and can't wait to see his pics.

Yeah, I'll bet they're BOTH out there, or all THREE!

Lisa, I had to dig out the socks, too! I hurt my hand a couple weeks ago, so haven't gotten the hand knitted ones done ~ can't wait 'til they're done, they're WARM!

howdy!...welp, just saw the other post (by Carol7) about ya'll wondering about my feet! Hah! I made a confession there so won't go into detail here!

So nice to be back! My computer felt SO neglected!http://davesgarden.com/t/368734/

And yep, ya'll are right! Playing in the snow? Of course! DD put me to work! Altho she did most of the work, at some point in time she "encouraged" me to dig some ice blocks for her igloo! (Will post pics when I get caught up!)
Thanks for your thoughts folks!

Good to learn that Shoe & Lisa are ok tho very cold. My heart goes out to those who are suffering thru this storm. Many are unable to get out of their cold, waterless, low on food supply homes. Where would they go if they did?
We don't realize how dependent we are on electricity until we lose power. Yet billions of people around the world have never had it for the first time.

Yes, EvaMae, we are fine for the time being. However, many many folks still have no power here. It may be several more days before they do, or longer for some of them.

Today I helped several people in the neighborhood...like me, they just got power back but their well pumps had froze up. Fortunately they now have water, no busted pipes and all is well.
We all live in the country and don't rely on electricity as much as city dwellers...we usually have portable heaters, fireplaces and such. The folks in town rely on electricity for everything; cooking, heating, lites, etc. I also felt really blessed that we were able to buy a generator a few yrs ago...that alone saved many things in the ghouse, and pumped water out of the well for us. So nice!
