its what i say everytime i get something new-YAHOOOOOOOOOOO!
;]

Yahoo as a word means an insensitive person. Jonathan Swift first used it in Gullivers Travels (a wonderful lampoon of society of that age and of any age since) as a name for a race of uncivilised people.

Where the exclamation Yahooooooooo comes from I really don't know

Well, I don't know how accurate this is, but here's a timeline from Yahoo: http://docs.yahoo.com/info/pr/milestones.html and http://docs.yahoo.com/info/misc/history.html

The name is an acronym for "Yet Another Hierarchical Officious Oracle" according to the second link :)

It wasn't the favorite search engine of DG'ers in a vote last summer: http://davesgarden.com/t/273307/search%20engine

Yahoo as in online stuff is usually pronounced with an "ah" sound, and the word for those insensitive klutzes is usually pronounced with a long a. Isn't it funny to think of how the internet has changed the language? Jianhua, I so admire those of you who deal with all of this in several languages and vastly different cultural and social climates.

Good,simply good.
No wonder there is a proverb ,saying,
'Three heads are better than one.'
Baa's given us the history of yahoo.i once read Swift's travels -- part one 'liliput'.
Go-vols' explains the yahoo of yahoo.com
by the way,in Chinese yahoo is translated into ΡΕ»’,which means cute tiger, heheh
At last,I should say THANKS!!!!
