Ludger - you are doing wonderfully. Please don't stop trying to figure out we are trying to say. If I tried to post on the Yahoo german forum they would laugh me off the site. Sometimes words and feelings don't translate well. The words say one thing but the feeling is something else. I know - I have a French brother-in-law.
So post on - we'll try and keep up with you. (please smile)
And take care of your Mom - she's the only one you'll ever have.

????????????
Ludger, you are a treasure, and have done awfully well with the language. sometimes i don't understand what is going on, and english is the only language i know.
Just want you to know how happy we are to have you with us, smile......
Hello McFly ,where's Owen?
Ludger, you do VERY well with english. I've tried not to use slang, because I know people from other countries wouldn't understand it. Sometimes slang is very different even from one part of the country to another. I live in Oklahoma, which is right above Texas. My husband's family is from Italy, and live in New York, on Long Island. My sister-in-law told me one time that she was staying 'by her mother' while her house was being worked one, she meant that she was staying with her mom. If I said that I was staying by my mom's house, I would mean that it was near her house.
P.S. I thought that I was really starting to understand Italian because I could tell most of what my husband was saying. When I started listening to other people talk, I realized that I didn't really understand much at all. I could understand my husband because I only needed to hear a word or two, and I would know what he was talking about!
I think Ludger does really well with his english, and I'm very glad about it
We would really be missing a great person if he wasn't here.
And I am really bad with my slang too...
I'll try to do better
this is so true, brugcrazy, sometimes i don't understand what is going on! it's a little harder here than face to face.
Ludger, Even I have difficulty figureing out the meaning begind some US phrases etc. so you've nothing to worry about!
One thing i have noticed is that sarcasism seems to used amongst friends here regularly but is said totaly light heartedly! Here in Ireland sarcasism is used allot too but it's more often used in a negative way, to get on someones nerves etc. and is nearly always followed by a smart (cheeky) reply from the other person! LOL..It's how allot of arguments start..LOL
Bruno
YUP thats it exactly,we just tease each other but there is love behind it.....
so happy for u Ludger :)!!! nice to see you happy again!!!
We love you Ludger.....
Beautiful blossom Ludger - is that a Night Blooming Ceres?? Looks like a fireworks display with the black background!!
I am still understained:) LOL
Yes it is. We name it Queen of Night.
GL
It's a beautiful flower. I know a man who has one - he plans an annual party for the night that it blooms. That's Bert of aurea multihybrid Bert fame. Everyone drinks gallons of Italian wine toasting the blooms.
Liz, we had some wine when it blooms this year.
It was a " midnightparty ".
At afternoon I saw that the flower will open that special night. I phoned some friends anxd after work we met us here and celebrated this flower.
The name: Queen of Night is OK. All Brugs may forgive me,smile.
GL
That's exactly what Bert does. None of the guests know until they get the phone call that it's about to bloom and it becomes party night. I think it's a great idea.
So glad that you are happy again Ludger. We really like you being here with us. I think you do a great job using the English language.
Am realllly happy with all of you.
GL
