DG: About the origins of Dave's Garden

This thread was one of the most fascinating threads I have come across since I joined DG three years ago..........make it a big sticky!!!

When did Dave sell to NameMedia? I was surprised to hear the news about NameMedia selling the site, I didn't know they owned it.

2007, I believe.

I want to say it was a couple years ago--don't remember the exact date though. There was quite a bit of discussion of it at the time with people worried about changes. Most of the discussion was on the Dave's Garden forum so if you don't follow that one maybe that's how you missed it.

Just over 3 years ago. It was January 11th, 2007.

WOW, Dave is still on top of this whole DG.

I remember those days back "In the beginning". Such fun we had posting those first photos on DG. One big happy family and many of us got to meet when we hosted a Round Up at our cabin in western MD in the early days.

It's hard to believe it's been 15+ years :-)

I joined the day after the 9/11/tragedyooking for something to take my mind off of that and I found it....I still love DG~!

Wow! I strolled down memory lane this morning and wondered if others might like to do it. Saw many old friends I had forgotten I met here, and later saw in person, either at a roundup, or a vacation trip.

It looks like Dave is long gone and whoever the conglomerate is that bought DG and runs it now pretty much messed up the site. It's partially working and seemingly neglected. I haven't been keeping up, but as I recall, that 'garden web' site is and always was shady and run by a dictator...but I wouldn't be surprised if that dude bought this site somehow...or maybe that old site has changed hands now and that guy is gone (good riddance! LOL). Anyway, wow...it's been a long time (just logged in after years...and may be a while before I'm back, if I forget to check on this post).
