100 years young today!

Well today has been a amazing day. Granny( aka Nelia Hazelrigg) turned 100 years young today. We had a lovely reception for her at the Senior Citizens center today. 80 Of her friends from the center came not to mention family. The Amish Children's choir sang some lovely songs and then Happy Birthday. And she got the one thing she has asked for when she turned 100 was a dozen red roses well needless to say she had more than a dozen. She also had a letter from the President and the Governor of KY plus some others. I wanted to share this special day and this special lady with you Happy Birthday Granny.

Oh Peggy, what a beautiful "young" lady. And what a gorgeous outfit to match her roses! What a wonderful birthday party! WOW! I hope you got it all on tape. Congratulations and much happiness to all!

WOW!!! That is soooo neat!! Tell her I said Happy Birthday and may she have many many more!! I only hope that I look that good when I turn 100! She looks soo sweet, makes ya just wanna hug her :)

If you get time, write down some of the stories of her childhood so that you can pass them down to your children, and their children and so on. What an honor to reach 100!

Peggy...that is just wonderful~~! Did she get a mention on the Today show from Willard Scott? I agree with Smilin32...write those stories down...or tape them...I have wished so many times that I had asked a lot more questions of my Parents and Grandparents. Jo

Awwwww Peggy! She sure looks wonderful! My great granny made it to 99 3/4, sure wish she could have made the last few months. I agree with the others, get what info you can from her to pass on through the generations. Some of the neatest things I have ever heard, came from elderly people that a lot of people don't take the time to listen to. She sure looks like a sweetheart!! Happy Belated Granny.

Happy birthday a few days late, Gramma. A great party for a lovely lady.

Imagine all the things people her age have seen / lived thru. It's amazing the change the world has seen in this time...both good and bad. Happy birthday to her :)

Belated birthday wishes to your grandmother and I hope I only look that good and live as long.

I know many of you shared this event with me. I wanted to let you know that Granny passed away last night at the age of 101 and 1/2. It's been a rough week but we knew the time was here. She is in a better place. I will still miss her so much .I think I would like to remember her as the lady in red and not the way she had become.Thanks to all of you that have had her in your prayers.

Awwww, Peggy, I'm sorry to hear Granny passed away. It was inevitable, but when someone lives as long a life as she did, you must feel like she'll always be around. (((Hugs))))
