Christmas Card exchange list

Maben, MS(Zone 7b)

Got a Card and a happy from Toadlily thanks.

So nice to be receiving cards in the mail besides bills and that junk mail everyday. Makes worth taking that walk to the mailbox, just to see where the next card will be coming from.
Got one from Mystic today and I thank you my dear.

Thanks tiG for the beautiful card I received today.

Thank you Tid for thebeautiful card I received yesterday.
Thank you also Iris and Louisa for thinking of me.

Had done this last year.
Going to make a suggestion here and should probably put it in Home and Crafts but have come up with an idea on how we can all display all those beautiful Christmas cards that we get. You can do this with or without a table cloth down first. It's up to you. Spread your cards out and around the top of your table. Now go to fabric store and buy how ever many yards of that clear plastic and 4 gramets;(1 for each corner of plastic) to cover your table. Might want to buy alittle extra plastic to go over the edges of your table. Putt gramet in each corner and lay plastic over your Cristmas cards and put a tassel in each corner, a nice big bow, maybe a bell hanging down, a pinecone with a ribbon tied to it; anything so that it adds alittle extra weight to each corner. If you wanted to; could also paint just alittle holly and berries but you don't want to over due; as the purpose is showing off the cards.
What a way to show off all those wonderful cards instead of putting them in a basket or taking up room on your counter or bar. When you sit down for your meal, you will be able to see your cards right through the clear plastic.
The plastic is not all that expensive; just alittle over $2.00 a yard I believe. Go for it; It's A Good Thing. would take a picture of mine and show you put it's just a new roll in my camera, so it would be awhile before it gets developed.

I went ahead and posted this in H & C Forum

Great idea, Coco! :)

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

I've gotten no cards yet :( Well, I have sent all of mine already (though I am not in the card echange)

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

I just realized my card to Sheila probably won't get there by Christmas. :( We get used to stuff taking under a week to get anywhere in the US and forget to do the overseas stuff early.

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

Gardenwife, don't worry... http://www.usps.com/holiday/get.htm

Wonder why the cards abroad, even to Europe, must be sent so early.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Oh, good! I still need to get hers out right away, LOL!

I had sent all my cards out that I had on my exchange list, including Sheila all the same day and so far I haven't heard if she had received it or not. Sure hope so. I just hope mine made the trip that far away.

Grove City, OH(Zone 6a)

Those cards and letters going overseas are on slow boats ...

Spring Hill, FL(Zone 9a)

We are receiving DG exchange cards daily. Thanks so much to everyone. Several people also enclosed a one page introductory message which is a great idea. We'll be doing that one next year!
Lizh, yes the stained glass ornaments are Ethel's handiwork. I do it too but other than helping attach the filigree these are her works. Merry Christmas to all!

N.C. Mts., NC(Zone 6b)

Iris, mommajen and hummer_nut thank you very much for the cards. You are right kikisdad, Hope I remember next year to add a page of introductory, like most of you have done. I enjoyed reading them.

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

I got mine from Weez today I love it. Dennis sure makes a pretty card and thanks for the seeds too can't wait to grow them.

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

I got mine in today from Weez too! What a neat card, Dennis sure looks mighty cold from this end of the big old U.S. of A.

I love all the cards I've been getting, so many beautiful and generous folks here. It has been fun. All the homemade cards are so special.

Albany (again), NY(Zone 5b)

Weezin - quite the gardening man you have. Looks like the snow is growing great! :-) Thanks for the seeds!

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

I'm finally catching up with my Christmas cards! I've been watching this thread whenever I have a chance to visit Dave's, and I have been feeling Christmas Anxiety big time! I'm glad everybody enjoyed their cards. I've been meaning to post a thank you for all the cards I've received so far.

I can see I'm not the only one that makes their own cards. I was just sick to find the post office had run Sledder's card through the roller. There was a lovely ornament inside, but they just crushed it! It was in pieces, but I could see that it was candy canes, and that she put a lot of time and talent into making it. I hope some of the seeds I sent fared better. I guess the folks at the post office are pretty tired too!

We finally got some snow last night, and it didn't melt off today, so maybe winter is finally here. It's been so warm and rainy that I can't get into the Christmas spirit. Thanks to all of you who have sent cards and to all of you who will when you can squeeze in the time!

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Awwww, bummer about the broken ornaments! I guess it's like seeds - write "hand cancel" on them and that will (hopefully) ward off some of the squishing, anyway. Now, if you can go figure, the cookies from Lupinelover came through just fine!

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

I'm just guessing it was the roller, but that's what it looked like. There was obviously something in the envelope, but I guess it's pretty busy at the PO. I try to bubble-wrap, but I have to say, I sent some seeds inside the Christmas cards this year. They can sure get pulverized, too.

Wigan, Landcashire, United Kingdom

Dont worry your card has arrived plus a few others too, it really does not take that long, i mean its only a few hours here on the plane, hoping people are getting mine before christmas.

Santa Clara, CA(Zone 9a)

I think I have received all my cards now, and I want to thank everyone. It was wonderful getting cards from all over and to get little presents in some made them extra special. Thanks you for the cards, ornaments, seeds and labels. I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas.

Now I need to find a place for the new seeds in the yard next year. Thanks

"down the Shore", NJ(Zone 7a)

A big THANK YOU to all from my card exchange! I really enjoyed receiving them; they brightened every day at mail time. Wish I had thought of including a newsletter, they were great introductions to some of our davesgarden friends! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! John

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

I got mine in the mail today (*blush*). Y'all put me to shame - I got some of yours before we even left for Louisiana!

I tried using Stamps.com for the postage since we had free postage with them, so if our envelopes look a little weird, I apologize. It's not junk mail, I promise! :)

gardenwife; it's the thought the counts. Better late than never as they say. I remember a few years ago when I was still receiving cards in middle of January.
People always look forward in receiving cards in the mail; no matter when they come.

Kathleen; thank you for the very lovely card that I received yesterday in the mail. That was really neat. I liked that. Thank you.

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

Just piping in here with a quick message. I didn't enter this venture because of some untimely personal events and I haven't been posting, but I want to thank those of you who sent me cards and goodies and some exquisite gifts. I am overcome with your kindness. Happy, peaceful Christmas!!

Montgomery, AL(Zone 8a)

Thanks to everyone for the Christmas cards. I have really enjoyed receiving them. A special thanks to Kikisdad for the ornament and to all who enclosed a letter about themselves. Glad to have been a part of this exchange.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

Mount Prospect, IL(Zone 5a)

Many thanks to all who sent me their cards, seeds, labels, etc, and even a little darling angel who is now on the tree. Sledder, the ornament you sent also got rolled on, but with a little glue, the "puzzle"of 11 pieces was made whole again! Weez, thank you for the card with your husbands picture on it. It is so cute! There are so many beautiful cards this year, and all are hanging proudly in the living room! Doris
