Happy Veterans Day

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

I got to thinking today, what would this great country of ours be like if we didnt have our veterans? just think about it for a minute.

I couldnt quite decide. I couldnt quite picture it. can you?
Can you imagine a life where you dont have the freedom to say what's on your mind? good or bad, the choice is yours, But in many countries, that is a luxury that you dont have.
Can you imagine getting up Sunday morning and not be able to go to Church?
Can you imagine being a bright student but not be able to further your education because you are a girl?
Can you even fathom living somewhere where you have no rights? you cannot protest, you cannot complain, your everyday life is a struggle just to survive?

Can you imagine living any other life than the one you are living in any other country in the world?

I can imagine it, but I sure am glad I'm living this life in THIS country, I wouldnt trade it for anything.

Our veterans have made this life possible for us, they have put their lives on the line for US, for this geat nation of ours.

My heartfelt appreciation goes out to all veterans for making our country the best country in the world and for protecting us.

My DH thanks you for your thoughts. He is a Vietnam vet and also was in the National Guard until retirement from the military was imposed on him due to open heart surgery. My Dad was a chaplain in WW11 and got wounded during last rites for a soldier in China.
I am so very proud of all our veterans and their families that support them in their endeavors.

Pebble, I have often thought of you and wondered how you felt in this country, having been raised in a country so different. It's good to see something like this from you, because I know you have a good grasp on what you are saying. These freedoms many take for granted were bought and paid for through the gift of lives, limbs, sons and daughters. Decisions to enter combat are never universally popular, but throughout history it has been necessary to keep the "bad guys" under control by waging war or supporting others in war. I am grateful to every veteran and every veteran's family for these blessings.

NE Medina Co., TX(Zone 8a)

I'd like to say that I'm grateful for all that served their country! My DH still fights the Vietnam War in his head and always will. So those who serve may not be free to go on with their lives even when they're discharged. For their sacrifices, nothing we'll do or say will ever be enough, but we have to try! So, a big THANK YOU to all our veterans who ever served...anywhere, at any time!

Rutland , MA(Zone 5b)

Amen to the above...we are indeed blessed that these individuals have and are putting their lives on the line in hopes that life will only get better for those in their country and in countries they fight for....sending prayers for those who fight for everyones 'freedom'
