Crocuses already coming up in Zone 5

Albany (again), NY(Zone 5b)

Bear with me, but this is strange (or maybe it's not) - upstate NY, zone 5 - and we have had so much rain lately that my crocuses (that I planted a little over a month ago) are already coming up! 4 MONTHS EARLY!!!

Do I just enjoy these - and put more down for the spring? Will these ones bloom again in the spring?

HELP!

Sandra, are they blooming now? Sometimes the foliage is very precocious, but flowers hold off until later. If they bloom now, that would be it for another year. John

I have had lavender FALL crocuses blooming for over a month. Are yours all different colors?

Albany (again), NY(Zone 5b)

they're one color - purple and blooming - sounds like it's time to plant a few more. We have had a very wet fall, then it got very cold, then warmed up again - probably fooled the crocuses into believing that it was Spring.

Oh well, guess I'll view that as a bonus to enjoy this fall - but, handn't planned on planting many more bulbs this fall.

ssbar: We've had a wet warm fall here in Seward, Alaska, as well, and when I went out to plant some spring tulip bulbs, I noticed that my crocus were sprouting. they didn't have time to do much ,and things should be cooling down soon, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. It's certainly been some strange weather hasn't it?

My daffodils have broken ground, too. They do every year in November/December. But I have heard there are fall crocus (or colchicum?) that bloom in November/December, and on into January.

I agree with Lupine that you might have autumn flowering crocus http://rareplants.co.uk/crocaut/index.htm
