Joydie, welcome back (((hugs))). I don't want to hijack this thread, tho, so:
MaVie, if you still need Meiyu's phone number, e-mail me. I am glad you are moving next weekend! Doing the happy dance for you. Prayers are going for Meiyu and her mother through all this.
Meiyu???
wow...you guys are all awesome people, do you know that? i can't believe i haven't been here since november. wow. thank you all so much, and i'm so sorry to have worried you. part of why i haven't been able to get here is my lack of energy and muscle spasms along with a million other problems, but mostly because i couldn't get on and be funny. i like being silly, not serious; happy, not in pain. i didn't have anything but problems and dead plants to talk about...and i didn't want to bore you all.
so we'll get my bs out of the way...mom's foot has healed, the altzheimers has worsened. found a new program for training for caretakers of altzheimers which has free daycare while in class...will begin soon.
muscle spasms have kept me from typing much, pain pills allow me to get necessary things done, but crohn's reacts badly to pain pills, yada-yada-yada. now i'm told i have some unusual problem with my thyroid. don't know exactly yet.
i used to wonder how the heck i survived the 70's...now i know...dying would've been too easy!!! hahaha!! i'm living to serve a life sentence of internal pain, i guess!! just kidding...the doc said that my thyroid probs could be the cause of a lot of other symptons, such as muscle spasms in my hands and depression, so when they fix it maybe i'll be better. i can deal with just about anything, but having the doctor tell me i'm depressed...and realizing that i may actually be just that. i don't like feeling like this at all.
but hey!! i planted my 400 spring bulbs before my spine crapped out again, and guess what? they're alive!!! they're the only things alive, except for pepple's iceplants!!! , but they look like they're gonna bloom in spring! i found about 50 bulbs i didn't get to last fall...do you think i can still plant them?
enough about me! how's everyone else??? god, i've missed you all!!! lupinelover needs to call me...my new cell number is 210-834-1760, and i have a new email addy: TheUTC@aol.com (i get too much junk mail at the other one and it's overwhelming when i go to check my 600 emails to find 3 from friends)
TheUTC stands for "TheUltimateTravelClub" which is a paid website in the making....but I haven't been able to work on it since I became ill. Dave is my web developer, and has been unbelieveably patient with me, but if any of you are interested in helping me get this off the ground, please call me on my home phone: 210-481-3589. I need some semi-healthy, computer-literate, fun-loving people who love traveling and would like to work at home part-time to help me out so we can get going by summer. i will tell you more when you call.
on a sad note, ma vie is looking, once again for another place to live...it seems the idiot who owns her property will not let her plant her brugs!!!!!! can you even believe it???? what an idiot he must be!!! i'm just inches away from going to california and buying an investment property myself...i, for one, would love it if i had a tenant like ma vie to landscape it for free!!
when my surgeries are over with, my husband is taking our family on a 7-day cruise around the hawaiian islands (the norwegian star, june 29th....we're getting a big group to go if anyone is interested! aol has the best deal with $175 cash back...call if you want to know about it!), and we're going on a road trip up to LA, so i'm gonna go check on roger and ma vie. if i can get some help getting my delinquent project off the ground, perhaps i can buy some property with the interest rates this low (everyone go refinance now!! my new interest rate is 4.25%!!!)
i love you all!! gotta call ma vie now!!!
Hey there meiyu, so glad to see you back. We've missed you lots and have also asked about you during chat on Tues. nite.
So sorry to hear about all your health problems and also about your mom. It is such a sad thing to see them fade away with alzhiemers. Hope the docs can find out about your thyroid too. I have been having a problem with my hearing in one of my ears for the past 8 months...seen the ENT Dr. and had 2 hearing tests and they can't find out what my problem is either!!
Poor Ma Vie, is that why we haven't heard from her much lately? What a jerk that landlord is, and she said that he was happy to have her plant up his property when she rented the place.
So when are you coming to LA. Sure hope you get into my area of Huntington Beach...just south of LA. Let me know and maybe we can meet up while your out here too, K?
Sorry I can't help you out with your website as I am not computer literate at all...I still can't figure out how to use my journal here on DG. I wish you well with it anyway.
Hope you can stick around for awhile, and let us know about Ma Vei please.
Donna
Meiyu, I was delighted to wake up to your post this morning, have missed you here -- and am very, very sorry to hear of your health and pain problems, and that your mama is getting worse. You know I am praying for you, your mother and DH and hope that your burdens will be eased and that you can find appropriate help with all your needs.
Thank you for letting us know about MVR -- I can't imagine anyone not letting her plant bruges! And she was so excited about that move, too. Boy, sometimes it doesn't rain without pouring. Will pray for her to find the right place, where she can settle down freely and securely.
God bless you and your dear ones, Meiyu.
Meiyu, what a great pleasure to see your smiling fave back among us. Sounds like you had your hands full.
I am so glad that the ice plants survived....they are pretty awesome plants, you will see....
Hang in there with all that you have on your plate.
It is a shame indeed about MVR, she was so overjoyed.
Hang in ther MVR, sending good positive energy your way!
take it easy meiyu, hope life takes a turn for the better for you, the crusie sounds like a well deserved vacation.
Good luck with the new altzheimer care taker classes. It isnt easy having to go thru this, I feel for you.
Hi, Meiyu! What a nice surprise. I'm only here for a minute, but hope to see you around more. Prayers for all those problems, and wishes for quick solutions.
You know I love ya kiddo............I love to travel, but am a computer dummie!! :(

Meiyu,
So sorry to hear about your mother and all of your health problems, geesh you have your hands full now! The vacation will bring you renewed zest in life, in the meantime try to take it as easy as you can. One day at a time and things will still get done...you will see.
socal...i thought about you several times while in ca, and wished i'd emailed you prior to leaving. i'm going back to la, ca at the end of june, but only on my way to hawaii, and am flying instead of road-tripping as usual. geez, when i look at all the snip-n-run plants i managed to get in san diego, i can't help wondering what i could have snuck out of your garden...hahaha.
whiterose...missed you in co last week...bummer. anyway, the one person i did get to see while on the road, was ma vie, and her landlord is chilling. wow, what a great big playground she has out there...i got alot of seeds and plants and even a very precious book from her while out there!! it was really great seeing her in person, too!! mama and i are getting much better...she's on aricept and also spent 3 weeks at my crazy sister's house in nc, so she has a new appreciation for me...hehehe...and i was beginning to feel like a woman in the prime of my life again...hahaha!! i hope we can meet sometime soon since i'll be moving (maybe) to the same area you and your hubby plan to retire!!
pebble, you have no idea how much i love the ice plants!! i was in san diego last month and took the kids to the skate park and found two more varieties...yes, i did grab and bag...hehehe. flourescent orange and a pinkish purple...i'll send pics as soon as they root and bloom!! anyway, the ones you gave me have grown so well, i was able to give my best friend a whole bucket of yours without putting a dent in the garden...i have also begun planting some in my lawn as a test to see if i can get them to take the place of my grassy areas. peter keeps complaining cuz i have so much garden he can't get a lawn mower to the grass, so since the ice plants are green all year and never get taller than about 3 inches, i am hoping to replace the grass with it!!!! do you think it'll work?
aimee...found that quick solution...vacation and work!! hahaha!! sent mama away and took my oldest boy and his friends to ca on a senior spring break road trip and went to help out with the billy joel/elton john show (and in return got to sit in the front row during the show...hehe!!). i've decided my life must go on...there's a new altzheimer's assisted living opening up in about a month just a mile from my home...ya'll will be hearing from me again soon! if i go back to work, i can afford for mama to go, and i think she'll have more fun there anyway (they even have a mini-mall with shops, hair and nail places, etc.'; not to mention people her own age!). so i guess those prayers for quickv solutions helped...thanks!
eyes, me too...why do you think i'm looking for help? hahaha...i hope dave still wants to help...and it's tax time too...argh!!! thanks anyway!!!!
joydie, were you an alateen too? hehehe...the one day at a time thing is as familiar to me as the serenity prayer. i do my best to remember, though!! life's getting better the more i realize that i need to have some help, though, and i'm really doing well now...even gardening now that peter pulled my stitches out!!!
thanks for all your responses...you guys are awesome, and i really miss you. will post the pic of me and ma vie in hesperia?
meiyu
Meiyu,
So close...but far enough that I couldn't meet you. With all of your travels, I hope to meet you again some time. I still want to get up to meet Ma Vie also...everytime I go to Laughlin or Vegas, I wish I had the time to stop and see her.
Sounds like you are on the mend, so glad to hear it. Mom sounds better too. It sure would be nice to be able to get her into that home and be with people like herself.
I've been down at my DD house for a week babysitting my grandson while they were in Porto Rico on vacation. During my stroller walks with him, I noticed that several front lawns had Ice plant as their main lawn or a big part of it. It grows pretty fast and does stay green all year long. It's a shame you didn't stop by...you missed some neat plants to take home from my gardens...haha If you have a little time at LAX, send me an email and I'll give you my phone #...maybe we can say hi at least.
Don't overdue things, so you can get to feeling normal again and play with us here at DG. We really miss you.
Thanks for keeping us informed of your progress and for letting us know that MaVie is doing well. I've been wondering about her landlord problem as she hasn't mentioned it in a long time.
Keep in touch gal,
Donna
Whiterose, it's a terrible picture of me (Ma Vie is so adorable, though)!! The wind blew all my hair into my face (Ma Vie made us stand at that angle cuz she said the barn had to be in the background so everyone would know I was really there...goofy gal..hehehe!!), and my teeth are about the only things you can see...hahaha...but I got my downstairs puter working again (darn the wireless router), and will go down and post it after I feed Mama today...I guess...(yuck!).
SoCal...let me know before you go to Vegas next time...I'm a craps table frequent flyer at the Stardust..hahaha!! Anyway, I am trying not to overdo it...Peter is helping me a lot (I have such a wonderful husband!!!!)...yelling at me for gardening in stitches and hiring cute yard boys to help me...hehe...even doing a lot of work himself!! He burned his bald spot gardening for me this weekend, and I burned the back of my ears...hahaha...I was looking down planting stuff all day with my hair in a tight ponytail!! Guess even my skin needs to get back into it slowly...Oh, hey! I'm glad you mentioned ice plants, cuz I just noticed that the only flourescent orange ice plant I got a hold of in San Diego may have died because Peter forgot to water it (It was my fault, I told him to 'just throw it in the garden and sprinkle some dirt over it', forgetting to tell him to then water it!). Is there anyway you can get me some pieces of them if I send you an SASE??? When Pebbles sent me some, all she had to do was throw a bunch in a box and mail them. I planted Pebbles' iceplants in my problem area of the lawn the other day, and it's already looking great...I'm seriously thinking of getting rid of all the grassy areas (there aren't that many anyway!).
I'll go down and get that picture, but in the meantime, tell me if you recognize this awesome performer...what a great show!! Gosh, I miss work!! (Gonna try Mama out at the Assisted Living for respit care while we go to California and Hawaii at the end of June..I think...if I can do it without too much overwhelming guilt.)
Edit: Oh, yeah, that's my head on the bottom left of the picture!

Hahahaha...no, MaVie's adorable, I look like [deleted], but thank you...!!
Here's another cool shot, Whiterose...same concert, different performer (the bald head belongs to my husband, and the bony hands in the air next to him are mine)...there's no better medicine to get this old girl up outa her sick bed, than these two!!!
Uh-oh, obviously I didn't take these pictures (we weren't allowed to have a camera at the show). It was some really nice guy with all kinds of security laminates around his neck, and the only one in the whole place with a camera...I hope I don't get into trouble for showing it here???? I just realized that it gets that copyright thing put on it...
Oh, it was a great day...I got both of their autographs, too. Now, if only I could see Cat Stevens perform...ahhhhh!
