Ok, I'm serious. This project IS out of this world.

NASA invites you to send your name to Mars on the next
Mars Exploration Rover-2003 mission!

All the names collected will be recorded onto a small DVD disk that will be attached to the lander that will travel to the surface of Mars. The DVD disk and its mounting assembly are being provided as part of the Red Rover Goes to Mars educational experiment on the Mars Exploration Rover-2003 mission. Each rover will photograph and return to Earth a picture of each DVD disk of names as they rest on the Martian surface.

You can also print off a certificate with each person's name, certificate number, date and such. I'm doing some as Christmas presents for the kiddos in the family.

Anyone with children, especially, would enjoy this, I think. My 10 year old really thought it was "kewl". :)

Way cool idea!! Thanks Carla!! I signed up my whole family!! Me and Dh on one and my 3 boys on another. We're on our way to Mars!! LOL The boys thought this was the coolest thing yet!! and wants to tell everyone at school!

Ok, for those of you "into" space, all 3 million names registered on this DVD will be dropped off on the Mars surface now that the rover has landed. :)
