About the journal what happens to it?

I never did understand the daves journal until I looked at someone's completed journal. For example one could start a entry such as building our deck, and take pictures of each stage of project, or growing sweet peas from seed and photo graphy each stage. But, what happens to the journal when some one leaves the site? Do they disappear or can someone take the journal home with them? I mean copy it into the hard drive for thier own personal record.

The journal is hosted here, so if you leave, the journal obviously will still be here.

However, you can happily copy it down to your own computer and keep it for a record. You can also remove it from DG, too, if you wish. All in all, it's your journal to do with as you please. :)

Buggirl, you can save each page on your harddrive, click on file, save as and let it save it as a web page. You wouldn't be able to add to it, but you'd have it.
I ain't leaving so in a few years, I hope mine will be fairly nice size.

Dave, there is no point in having the journal online if the person has left or rather thier subscription has expired. Does that not reduce the amount of storage space that you have over all?

If their subscription expires, it doesn't matter because the journals are available to any member (subscribed or not). It's a free feature.

And, how do I know they left? If they don't hit the site for 6 months, how do I know they won't be back in 12 months? Maybe they'll be back and I don't want to shock them with their journal being taken away.

Also, storage... Storage is cheap. a 60 gig hard drive would hold hundreds of thousands of pictures and costs less than $100.

I was just wondering if there was a limit to the amount of space or bandwith, that daves can occupy? Some sites such as geo cities, (and I have very limited knowledge) limit the size of a site and the number of photos. If there is excess bandwith comsumpution the site becomes timed out. Maybe this is more of a computer question? I could see keeping them for a few years, any way, in case they decided to renew.

No, this is my own server (I own it) and nobody can tell me how much disk space I can have. If I need more space, I just buy an extra hard drive for it.

Ok, that is good to hear.
