Not thinking very often of what cars I have OWNED, it is sometimes hard to remember them all. I know you young pups can remember them all, but some of us have to think back in time.
1. 55 Plymouth hardtop. Black with a white top. Burned a quart of oil every day; the car was called Old Smokey.
2. 57 De Soto hardtop. Dark blue that shined like a mirror. Push button (on the dash) transmission.
3. 64 Chevrolet convertible. Blue with a white top. A hot car.
4. 62 Corvette convertible. Maroon. Scatter shield, 456 gears, holly 3-barrel, solid lifters, the works. Boy it was good that gas was cheap. One tank would last one Sunday afternoon. Lots of tickets.
5. 69 Chevrolet hardtop. Maroon. Nothing special.
6. 70 Chevrolet hardtop. White. First air conditioner.
7. 73 Ford Pinto. Cream with an orange top (nice colors).
8. 78 Subaru wagon. Blue. 34 miles to the gallon.
9. Datsun wagon. Blue. Just OK.
10. 86 Ford ranger pick up. Silver gray with a white top. 4 speed. Nice truck.
11. 93 Ford ranger pick up. Maroon. great but no air.
12. 95 Plymouth voyager. Blue. The third seat is out for hauling stuff. 100,000 miles, no problems. Uncomfortable seats. A mini van with a golden Retriever in the back seat. I have gone full circle from Yippie (political hippie) to Yuppie.
Looking back it seems as though my cars were pretty boring. I will have to make up for them with the next purchase.
First car?.....all cars?
Hey Golddog, Kinda funny you brought this up. Friend of mine since first grade brought this same subject up just today. I'm 43yrs old and I really had a hard time counting all the cars I have owned.Guess I really did'nt have any great cars either but sure had alot of fun in (Pinto)Hah Hah (Grimlin) (68 Z28 conv.)(Would kill to own one now)|And the most gawdy one must have been the Pacer my DH drove (before I dated Him) In highschool I would switch cars with my best guy friend for the weekend and my mother would make me park down the street because she did,nt want neighbors to think her daughter really drove a 1941 Pickup with a granny gear. Guess my Guy friend had the same problem with picking up his date for the night. It really work out well for both of us!
1. 1950 Mercury Coupe...1st car, 1st love
2. 1951 Ford coupe...baby blue
3. 1955 Ford Sunliner convertible...fast and sexy
4. 1957 Ford sedan
5.1958 Mercury...push button tranny that didn't hold up
6. 1958 Buick sedan...a boat
7. 1962 Chevy with positraction...dependable and good in the snow
8. 1962 Chevy 1 ton truck... well drilling service truck 1st
brand new vehicle
9. 1970 Buick Wildcat convertible...WOW!
10. 1973 Buick station wagon...family car
11. 1975 chevy pickup...shortbed stepside
12. Hillman forget what year...bought cheap and worth every penny LOL
13. 1974 Chevy Beaumont van. Had it for 14 fun filled years.
14. 1984 Datsun B-210..cheap and reliable
15. 1982 Toyota Celica...kids are growing up
16. 1989 Toyota Celica...still got it
17. 1993 Toyota Previa mini-Van...still going strong
The Chevys were bought at the auction. My good friend's dad had a car lot and I would go with him. When I found a few that I liked, we would check them out. And then bid. Other bidders would think we were crazy bidding high. But the car was actually for me. At good price.
Tooooooo Old!! Toooooo many!! Does a Horse drawn buggy count?
"eyes"
Well it depends on how many wheels the buggy has.:)
:-) By the way, to any wives reading - when you're DH wants to sell his '70 'cuda, the correct response is, "Over my dead body!" I learned the hard way, but now my DH has a '73 sidestep Dodge pickup, and I haven't had to use that response, yet, but I'm ready!
Ah, if we could have kept the classics, today they would be worth something. Kmom you've got 2 beauties. How are parts?
Whaddya mean...#4 wasn't boring.
My first (purchased in 1960 for $100.00!)
1951 Ford coupe (flathead V-8, stock engine, slightly bored,
20 mpg!)
I kept it tuned every week, when something wasn't wrong with it. I even changed spark plugs and adjusted the carbureter) Medium blue. I painted the dashbard, cut out some carpet from remnants and also painted the wheels black.
LOL, Evelyn... I remember doing a "custom interior and exterior" to the first car I had... my mother's cast-off 1949 Buick. I had some red and black plaid courderoy that became door panels... and 17 cans of spray paint later, the old gray mare was red with a white top. A friend and I painted it on a not-so-calm day... then almost bathed in turpentine to get all the overspray off our bodies. A dip in the ocean later that day wasn't much fun, LOL.
I don't even remember what happened to that old car... not too long after I painted it, I was able to buy my very own selected "first" car... a 1955 Ford. Nothing so fancy as the top of the line, but it was mine! Drove it until I threw a rod several years later.

Me & hubby have had lots of vehicles, but we kept the good one.
I drove a '65 4-door Chevy Bel Air when I was in high school and had to share with my sister.
Got married and drove hubby's 69 Camaro to work every day. (I worked for the cops, so I could have whined my way out of a ticket!) By the way, we still have it.
Went through a lot of 4-wheel drive pickups, a '70, '83, and now an '89. Had a '78 Blazer that I drove into the ground, now my boys are like vultures, taking parts off it. Both my boys are Chevy guys, (not brainwashed a bit LOL). One has a '57, a '69 Camaro, an '83 Olds Cutlass and a new 2002 pickup. The other one has a '55 2-door post, a '72 pickup, and a '84 Monte. No wonder my stuff sits outside, the boys have all the garage space!!
Yes, the memories.
Ruth
