Cala taught me...isn't she a beeeuutiful brug????
Everything I learned about Brugs
Hi Lisa,
how old is this Brug? What is the name of the tree above the brug? May be the PH is wrong.Oaks are very bad for brugs...because very acidic.
In Germany we keep such small plants in small pots.
Which Brug is it?
Please give some more information about this brug, may be anyone here will have an idea.
Greetings Ludger
In that rich delta soil you had better get out of the way.
Lisa, just HOW LONG did you keep that poor little brug in the little pot it was in LAST YEAR????? OMG, I call that brug abuse!!! Treat it like your gingers, lol. Such a pityful life that poor little creature has led. Oh the pain of the abuse it's suffered!!
OK, I'm fine now.
Oh my! Poor little thing. :(
Oh Lisa I feel your pain! All my brugs look like that too. Do you have that brug planted in mudbug dirt?
I can see you did a great job Cala teaching Lisa all about brugs...........LOL

Lisa she is a beautiful brug. keep us posted on how fast she grows! i would like to have about 100 loads of your soil to put on my sand.
justmeLisa, do you think some of the posters to this thread missed the point?
HA!!! I get the point, I've been framed again!!! Carol put you up to this didn't she?????
Carol....naaaaahhhh, not sweet Carol ;-)
Remember, I spent 2 weeks with Carol and Jo, surely they wouldn't conspire to do this. I promise they liked my driving.
Would Kathleen have anything to do with this conspiracy? I know she is an anti-brug-abuse crusader.
Lisa, looks fine to me - I'm speaking from a NoBrugsZone here - just stomp on it a little! Heehee
Poor Calalily, she spent tooooooo much time with Poor Ned and now they just both get picked on something terrible.
Lisa, you just wait, next year everyone will be eating their hearts out........
are those hazelnuts I see?
doyou have a loquat tree in your new property? or do you want me to send you some saplings? they are about 2 feet tall this year.
Surely this isn't the 'I live in a closet and never get watered, brug abuser' is it?? LOL
hehehe!!! Cala can teach some of us, some of us have a hard time learning Lisa!! (have to say that or she won't share with me anymore!!!)
Ludger, you have been so kind with your response to my helpless brug, thank you. I do have an Oak tree off to the side of this brug and the soil that the brug is planted in may be on the acidic side. We use that soil as a flower bed builder.(Hubby is a landscaper) I have to admit though, I am a brug killer. Yes, woe to me. You see, once I had a lovely brug, it bloomed lovely white flowers and at night the fragrance was intoxicating. I loved that brug. I live in the land where brugs grow can grow over 12 ft. high planted in the ground. BUT, I also live in the land of monsoons. It rained that fateful August so much that my brug just drowned. We have since moved from the property that floods,as you can see my brug thumb follows me.
Kathleen, I would do a stomp dance on it, but I am thinking this is much more fun to taunt Cala.
Now, the second part of that story is that I had a vistor this week, Carol7. I showed her my brug and well, you can see the rest of the story..hehehe...baaad Lisa...
OH! pebble, those are acorns you see laying around.

Just tell Carol to get home so I don't have to dig snow off the plants (NO BRUGS) I'm supposed to send her! And tell her that she shouldn't put any plant in a closet!!!!!
Kathleen, Carol is at Cala's tonight, she is eating Spam Spaghetti for supper. Cala's special supper. Isn't that nice of her to fix that for her company? I wonder if she would like to share the recipe on the recipe forum..hmm..maybe I should request it.
lisa, you try it for us all and let us know ;) too bad poor Carol had to have spagetti two nights in a row. wish i'd known you could put spam in it (NOT)
oh...Isn't spam a considered a delicacy in some parts of the world? kind of like a poor man's pate (lol)
only sliced thin, fried well and placed between two pieces of miracle laced white bread.
with mustard.
oops, mine is supposed to read 'miracle whip laced white bread'
DH likes mustard:)
Hey, miracle laced might be some good stuff too. :-) I just thought maybe you guys had a different kind of bread down there than we have.
hehehe, it did sound funny!!!
no spam in this house...EVER! yuck..LOL. Although truth be known, mom used to fix us "fried spam sandwiches"
Now listen here, Spam is a wonderful food!!! With the proper seasonings it can be made to taste like Lobster!!! Actually it was a wonderful maranara sauce with red wine, garlic bread and a lemon merangue pie!!!
there is a reason that they call junk mail spam...nobody likes it!Yuk
Now that Carol is safely on the road(safe for me, not her) I guess I could admit that those weren't clams in the sauce, but those big white grub worms we were talking about on the garden foes forum the other night. I learned to cook them from Lisa, I've even included her recipe:
2 cups stewed tomatoes, chopped
1 cup chopped peppers, sauteé till tender
1 cup chopped onions, sauteé till clear
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
1 small jalapeno pepper(to take ones mind off the grub worms)
1/4 cup mixed Italian spices
1/4 cup parmesan cheese-grated
2 cups red wine, drink one cup use the other in the sauce. Serve the remainder at dinner.
2 cups grub worms, fresh dug and sauteéd lightly.(be sure to wash the dirt off first)
salt and pepper to taste
Simmer all ingredients till hot, don't over cook the grubs, they will burst open and that's not a pretty sight.
Thanks Lisa, we loved it!!!
Gag!!!!
Oh my, you gonna edit that post before she gets home and reads it? :-) Better not let Horseshoe see your recipe. I'm with CC.........gag and more!!
Triple gag..............
Yuck!!!!!! I love ya Cala but if I ever get down to visit you I'll have to stop and visit Arlene and tiG first and make sure they feed me so I'm nice and full when I get to your house. :)
I just wonder if Cala puts masks on her grub worms before she serves them.
sheeeesh Cala, you didn't do it right! You didn't make a Roux first, that must have tasted horrible without a roux...
Grub Worms, You eat that Cala?? Gross for me.
What about you Lisa?
