I have a few Clerodendrum bungei (don't know where I got them) and I believe they are fiercly invasive in zone 8. Is this true? I love the foliage and want to keep some if I can handle them.
Also, Rice paper plant, how invasive are they?

Tropicals: Clerodendrum bungei too invasive?
Weeds, my friend in Wisconsin decided the same thing. Lucky for me I got some of the starts and will keep it in a pot rather than planting in the ground. Up here they would freeze out during the winter anyway, but I can see where it could be a problem for the warmer areas unless potted.
connie, do you have an extra rice plant? would you in the spring?????
I might have to put those bungeis in a pot! Thanks
tiG,
I just bought one and if it makes it through the winter you are in business.
sounds good to me. that's one thing that is still on my wish list!
Connie,
Yes the bungeis are very invasive here in our climate. The bungei grows from underground runners and boy do they run. I have seen them growing in a bed of their own and it is a beautiful sight. I have been trying to get rid of them in one area for 5 years now and they still keep popping up. :)
Mine are in the ground, they are invasive, but oh so pretty..They pull rather easily.. I have them around an old chicken pen and just let them go wild..When they pop up elsewhere I just pull them out..I always have lots of roots for trade or postage if anyone needs them.
Larkie
Connie, that is why I have mine in a pot, don't know if you remember it or not though.
Digging mine up now and potting them!
Thanks
Mine re barely hanging on here. They have been in that same spot for 3 years, now I have 6 plants. It's dry/semi-shade. They are beautiful when they bloom.
Cala,
Maybe some of Larkie and Glory's runner will run on up there!
Maybe they will. The man who gave them to me lives near here, and he said they were terribly invasive!! I'm still wating, lol.
Susie, you want more? I can bring you more when I come up.
Dee, OK, maybe a couple.
Will add it to the list of things to bring.
