This morning, in addition to browsing new postings at DG I was able to:
-order a 90-day supply of allergy medicine through a mail-order pharmacy program;
-renew our library books in case we don't make it by the library today;
-figure out what part my washing machine needs, based on an online diagnostic site (and figured out how much it should cost - $5.62 :), and
-schedule a dozen-plus check payments to be printed and mailed by my bank...
And it struck me that my internet access saved me from sitting on the phone, waiting for the "next available operator", running around town, and writing out those checks.
I routinely hit yahoo or mapquest to print out maps to locations across town or several states away. I schedule airline travel for our family, order priority mail boxes and tape to be delivered to my home, research all sorts of things, and (of course) keep in contact with friends and family via email.
The internet has certainly changed my life...how 'bout you?
So what do YOU do online now?
I was searching lowes and stores for a better gh heater.
login on to some garden sites of course!
ebay to check my bids!
Looking at the gingers n bannas for co-op!
Iris and daylily sites for buying
Looking at sites with garden tags!
Yakin on AIM! =]
wasting time! lmbo!
- I bought stamps from Suomen Posti http://www.pmk.posti.fi
- Chatted with messenger...
- Posted some pics etc.
- Answered and sent emails :)
- Mom paid some bills
- Checked the tv schedule for today
- Read news
- Watched a couple of videos
and just surfed :]
Today? Tried in vain again to contact my missing niece and nephew in Florida. Sent encouraging letter to friend who seems down. Tried again to contact my aunt. Mostly failure. Other days: failed to get Time Share payments set up electronically; failed to reserve Time Share condo; failed to get airline tickets because I will not post credit card info on-line. The list is endless of things I cannot get done on-line.
The list of things I CAN get done online: Talk with my many friends here and elsewhere; look up a whole lot of info about almost anything (old books to stamps to recipes to you name it!) contact doctors' offices with required information; get hopelessly confused about postal rates :D
As long as I don't rely on the Internet exclusively, it does help a lot in the time-consuming chores that would otherwise bog me down.
