Pardancanda norrisii; a candy lily

Sarasota, FL(Zone 9b)

Arsenic was kind enough to identify this surprize in my garden for me. It bloomed and looked awfully top heavy so I repotted it. It was VERY rootbound! While doing this, the top growth simply broke off at the soil level! I was not rough with it. It was not soft or rotted....it just snapped off! What will happen now? Is has many seeds...does anyone want any? This just appeared in an old pot in my garden.....

Wow, that is beautiful. Pardacanda can give you expert advice on this. I just wanted to say how gorgeous it is. I get lots of surprises too, but not this one! Congratulations. (and yes, I would love seeds) :D

It should come back, with new growth from the roots. I would like a few seeds also. I love these.

Dale, that is a very beautiful pardancanda! And yes, you should see tiny new fans forming on the rhizome, probably on both sides of where the bloom stalk broke off. What a great surprise! If you plant the seeds you should find great variation in colors and patterns when the seedlings bloom. John

Anyone who would like seeds, send me a SASE and I will send them right out...is that fair?

Dale, I am so sorry; I didn't forget or mean to ignore you, but my life got kind of wigged out for a couple of weeks. You have mail that includes another apology (OK, 40 lashes with a wet seed are due to me, too!)

You have mail!

DaleP6: That's a great photo. Why not add it to the Plants Database here: http://plantsdatabase.com/go/378/

Well I tried your link and it worked just fine but I had to login and then I got lost...found pardancanda but no place to upload like your link.....

DaleP6: If you go to the link, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click 'upload a picture'. That will bring you to a page that says 'upload image'. Click on the browser and find the place where you've stored the photo, then click on it to select, then 'open'. Add a caption and hit send. Perhaps you know all that, so excuse me if I'm not helping here! Please post again if it's not working.

Yes I did know but couldn't find the upload...did this time...thanks!

This PDB has lots of bells & whistles now, so glitches occur from time to time. Dave's still working them all out. Maybe that's what happened. Glad it worked for you. Thanks for posting!
