w32 klez virus

Took me over a year, but I finally got a virus!! Pesky little worm that attaches itself randomly to email addresses! I sincerely hope that I have not transmitted this to any of you. Please check your computers!! I downloaded FixKlez from Symantec.Response, and hopefully have the situation is fixed now. Again, I am soooooo sorry if I gave this to anyone!!

Evidently it sent itself out from you with my e-mail address in the FROM -- I got two bounces to my address because the bounced messages bounce to the e-mail in the FROM field. The headers on those bounces indicated the original e-mail was apparently from your address, though.

I wasn't one of the recipients, though - never got an infected e-mail from you, only the two bounces from ones which had gone to others. That's ironic, huh?

No, I'd call that lucky Kim!! Acccccccccck!!! I just hate this!!

Klez isn't as bad as Bugbear, I hear.

Like Kim, I've suffered through having someone else's inbox infiltrated, and my email address appropriated only to be used/mis-used/abused to perpetrate another round of infected email messages :(

What worries me is the number of virused-laden emails I get each day that do not have any indication there's an attachment. And apparently, the little buggers are getting smarter all the time, because many of these messages that have a somewhat legitimate-sounding title, similar to things I'm working on from my inbox.

Sorry to say it, but unless it's someone I'm absolutely confident I recognize your email addy, your message is gonna get deleted without being opened. (I have MacAfee running to catch the few that occasionally pass the "sniff" test and fool me.)

And if it IS someone I know, but you've attached something without sending me an alert email first, it's most likely is going to get deleted regardless.

Hi there eyes...I did get one of your "sick" emails even though it said it was from Kimberly. MacAfee caught it bc I did a full scan with Norton and there was no virus. Anyway, the headers said it was from you and that it was the hurricane.bat virus. No problems though, everything is fine with my computer. Hope yours is ok too! Have a GREAT Roundup weekend!

Norton have been catching this for me on and off for a couple of months now.

Actually, it was probably the klez virus infecting an attachment named hurricane.bat -- any executable file (i.e. exe, pif, bat) can house a virus.
