PLEASE I NEED YOUR HELP!!!!

(Zone 5a)

This is the second litter of cats that my neighbor has found to be abandon and between the two of us we have tried to care for them until they were old enough to take to a pet shop to be sold. They are 3weeks old and need very badly to be de-fleaed. I am not asking for monies but for anyone who knows of a vet in Columbus, Ohio that will not charge a arm an a leg to de-flea them. As you all know it is getting cold and they can't stay out in the cage since it is not heated. I have called the Humane Society here and they don't have a clue as to who can help but said that if we bring them into their office there is no guarantee that they won't be put to sleep. If I can only get them defleaed I could keep them in my house, so if anyone knows a vet in this area that can help please let me know. Here is what is breaking my heart.

I am not anywhere near Columbus, but will pray for just the right help for you with these dear ones.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

See my post in the pets forum, Windy.

(Zone 5a)

I know that a lot of people are not near here but some have ways I don't know of for searching the internet and that is what I need. I can't seem to find anything or anyone to help so I thought with all others here helping to do a seach that we just might come up with something here.

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Wind, I would try to contact vet students at Ohio State. I'll see if I can identify any somehow.

Oh, that's such a good idea!

I'm editing this because I just had a gruesome, but realistic, thought -- be sure they give the cats back to you if they help you with the flea problem, because veterinary medical schools are always on the lookout for animals to experiment on.

The problem has been solved and the little ones will get their medicine thanks to the pet shop that is going to take them as soon as they are 6 weeks old. I will bring them inside in a couple of days to give them a bath and complain about everything they are getting into. I hope Miss Kitty Fuzz will get along with them.

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Yippe! I'm glad you've found a way to save them!!! What fun to have around for a few weeks ~ and some work, too :)

Thumbs up, Wind!

(Zone 5a)

Morph I don't know about the fun part, I already have three and will have seven cats at one time. It's Miss Kitty Fuzz that I am worried about getting along with them. She is eight years old and don't have the energy that they do and doesn't like to be bothered, She still doesn't get along with Velvet.

WR thanks, just keep your fingers crossed that I don't loose what little mind I have left lol. I am so happy that they don't have to live on the streets or be put to sleep, God is wonderful isn't he.

I'm such an animal lover at heart, Wind, that I would be thrilled to raise & watch the interactions of the kittens! From my experiences, the older cats usually find their space and let the younger ones know not to bother them there. I hope your Miss Kitty Fuzz will be able to simply ignore the youthful play.

My dear sister has her 18.5 year old cat that was diagnosed with renal failure this weekend. If the poor thing doesn't eat, she'll have to be put to sleep. Otherwise, with human like "dialysis" she may make it another month or two. I brought home this particular kitty long ago. She bonded so with my sister that I left her with my sister.

Morph I am so sorry to hear about your sister's baby. I know what it feels like to loose one of your pets. I lost my Bittles this past March and she was only seven, we had to put her to sleep and that was the hardest things I had to do, it ripped my heart out. So please tell your sister that if she needs someone to talk to I am here for her.

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Thank you, Wind. I will certainly share that with her. I bought her a subscription to DGs but she has not used it. I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost two dogs about two years ago. It was very difficult, but I had other pets with which to mourn. My DS has only the one animal.

I'll be in touch as I've not spoken with her since Tuesday and I don't know what the outcome will be. Thank you, thank you...

Sorry to hear about your sister's kitty, Morph. :( That's so tough, especially when treatment will only help a short time.

Kit, I'm so happy to hear someone local did step up to the plate!

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

I used to raise dogs and had that problem with puppies from time to time. I just bought an ordinary flea spray, sprayed it on my hands, and rubbed the puppies down. That way they didn't inhale any of it or get any in their eyes. It never bothered them.....

(Zone 5a)

Morph she will be in my prayers.

GW I am not that good at doing anything when I get that emotional so I knew that if anyone could find some one to help you could. Your so good at finding things on the net but thank God Michele thought to ask the pet shop, I would have never thought of it.

WS puppies and kittens are different when it comes to those things and so are their fur and the way the fleas dig in.

Praying for your sister's dear kitty and for her to find true solace about what seems to be happening, Morph.

Thanks WR & Kit. She emailed me this morning that she did indeed have to put her to sleep. She couldn't call me because she knew she'd ball. I mentioned your offer to her, Wind. I wish she'd use her DG account that I bought her for her birthday. Her name here is Meerkatlvr, but I haven't gotten her to log on to DGs very much. Though she uses her computer & the internet daily.

Wind, so glad you were able to find help for these babies!

Morph, I had to put down my dear Princess last summer. She had been sick for a yr w/severe thyroid problems. She even lost her sight. It is so hard when you decide that your baby could be hurting & you never want them to hurt. I have no children or husband & she was my baby! I was there when Princess was born & that was almost 19 yrs ago.
Tell your sister, when the time comes, that her baby will be waiting for her at the 'Bridge'. A good friend sent me a poem about our pets that go ahead & wait for us @ the Bridge for when our time comes. (Tears falling just typing this)

Oh, Morph, I am so sorry. But the condition of your sister's cat had deteriorated so much, and when renal failure enters the picture it is kindest to do what she did. Will pray for her. I love her DG name -- Meerkats are some of my favorite animals. Hope she begins to post.

Smockette, so sad to hear about Princess. She was a lucky girl to have a caring, compassionate mother like yourself. I know beyond any doubt that our dear animal companions will, indeed, come to greet us when we cross that bridge.

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Morph, I was trying to type as you posted. Be sure to tell her about the 'Bridge'. I cried for months & that poem was the biggest help. I'll try to find it for her.
So, so sorry!

I am hoping this works, here is a poem that I wrote for all who has lost their babies. I hope it helps your sister.

Edit

God bless you all and touch your hearts as well and give his healing sprit to you, so that your breaking hearts can heal right along with mine. I wrote this poem for all of us here that has lost part of our families, I hope this helps a little bit.

OUR LOVED ONES ARE NEVER FAR AWAY.
Even though your are gone from my sight
and I can no longer kiss or hold you tight
Your love will always be in my heart
I remember your silly little purrs and barks
I think of the scratches on the couch, and torn shoes
it makes me laugh to think of you.
So you see my pet, your never far away
In my heart is where you will stay.

Love Mommy/Daddy

God bless us all and keep us friends forever.

Beautiful, Wind. Your poem brings tears to my eyes. Thank you for posting it.

Thanks WR, you know I have to tell you that CoCo and her daughter CoCoSeed took my favorite picture of Bittles and added this poem and sent it to me. It now hangs on my wall and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't talk to her and thanks to the wonderful friends I have made here.

Morph you can copy the poem and give it to your sister and I do hope it helps ease her pain. Tell her that I understand and she can email me even if she doesn't log on to DG, I am still here for her to talk to.

That was so kind and thoughtful of Coco and CoCoSeed! Sweet Bittles -- I know she hears every word you say to her. You have made so many friends here because you are warm and friendly, yourself.

(Zone 5a)

I can't begin to tell you how sweet these two ladies are and not only to me but to everyone that needs their help.
I have so many friends and adopted family here and I am so glad to add you to that list.((((BIG HUGS))))

((((Wind)))), too.

Thanks for everything ~ I've emailed my sister and I think I will take a picture of Astro (her baby) and do the same by adding Kit's poem. A wonderful idea for a rememberance! I hope that will help ease her pain. She, too, has no children or husband. Astro has been through a lot with her including a husband that came and went. Thanks to all and for caring.
