I would like to express my deepest thanks to all of you who thought about us during the Hurricane. I can't even begin to tell you how deeply touched I was with everyone who sent emails, made phone calls(some of you called almost hourly) and had genuine concern. It goes beyond words. For those of you who sat with me on my MSN chat and kept my mind off things for a little bit, I can't even begin to tell you what it did for me in such a scary moment. For those of you who were up during the night and just posted on the forums and kept my mind off things...I am deeply grateful for. This is what sets this site above all sites. The kindness of friends, some I will never meet in person, is overwhelming. I just can't thank all of you enoough. It sure gives you hope in humanity. I thank you, my family thanks you, and you make me proud to be a part of this gardening community. Long live Davesgarden! Thank you Dave and Trish for allowing Davesgarden to continue. You will never know what this site did for me for the last couple of very scary days. I honestly thought we (most of us in South Louisiana) were going to die, for a while there it was a possiblity. You can't imagine what it was like to think that we were so close to being wiped out. God bless you all. Thank you, Lisa
Open letter to DG'ers
Lisa, I wasn't able to hang in there with you and ride it out, but I sure am glad you're okay. Are there any preliminary reports of how much damage the storm did?
Dear Lisa, your post is so warm and loving. I feel like you do, DG restores my faith in humanity. Am thrilled that you and all your family and loved ones, including sweet animals, are fine and your property intact. People here are so caring -- and you have these many friends because you are a friend. I thank God for your safety and deliverance.
lisa we luv you and all our La. friends! davesgarden is the site above sites-it has helped many of us through hard times.
Id like to second the thank you to dave n trish for keeping us together!
Glad the hurricane died down!=]
Thank you go vols, whiterose and dori.
Vols, this is the only damage I had here.(see photo below) Not much at all. Limbs down are no problem considering what "could have been".
We will not know here for a little while on what the total impact here money wise will be for damage for our state, but it will be in the billions. The sugar cane farmers took a hard hit here and also the economy. There has also been massive flooding in the lower part of our parish. Some people had 9 feet of water in their homes. Most had not recovered from Isidore. This all sounds bleak, but it just could have been so much more. It is to my knowledge as of right now there has not been one person killed from Lili, which is the most important factor. There are still thousands of folks here just in my parish that still do not have power, but they have their life.

Yes, Lisa, there could have been massive loss of life and property, but there wasn't. This truly was a miracle. As you say, some people have water in their homes, but they are alive and that is what counts in the end.
Wow, just saw your photo and am praising God all the more!

Wow Lisa, the damage looks recouperable from your end. So glad that you just wound up with some kindling at your place. That storm being downgraded at the last moment was indeed a Godsend for all of you!
So kind of you to thank all those who kept you held together when things were coming apart. Applause to all of them and to Dave and Trish for hosting such a great family.
Lisa,
So very glad the storm lost some strength before it hit so things weren't as bad as projected. I got a chill reading your post. I guess the thought that so many people support another person, that they probably have never even met, with such genuine care and concern, says a lot for the folks that have the DG habit. And of course we appreciate Dave and Trish for allowing the wide span that DG covers and not limiting us to a narrow path.
Lisa, I also am very thankful that your garden was (mostly) spared. Just think of all the fun you will get to have re-discovering plants you thought you had lost. And the best part is, that you and all your family and friends will be alive and healthy for that, having been spared any injury! Bless you and all the other Dg'ers who were in the path.
thank you Candee,Gingerlily and Lupinelover.
Oh Lisa I am glad the storm changed so quickly for you guy's and that the damage is not so bad!!!!!
sue
We were with you all the time Lisa but most importantly so was our Saviour. I am overjoyed that Lili weakened. It could have been such a different story had the storm not been downgraded. And we must give thanks for this site which has proven to be a life saver many times over!!
This is exactly what makes DG rise above the other garden sites and lists.
As we were watching the weather with ya'll,it was just like family was in harm's way.....well,you are family...blood don't make a family!
God was watching over our friends on the coast. You can replace stuff, but not your friends and family.
thank you ruby
you are so right Louisa
yes, mel, I really felt the concern of my family here. You know, before I knew everyone here, it was so much easier to say "let it go somewhere else..another state..etc.." Now, you just want it to go away because we have now have friends dotted all along the gulf coastline. You don't want anyone in harms way.
Lisa, I am so glad that you came thru with such little damage. PTL!
From up here in B.C., where we get our share of earthquakes! Having been in Louisiana,(what a beautiful state).........having seen the levees in New Orleans and the devastation that can and has taken place...I'm glad you're through it, now....Elaine
thank you pebble and Elaine.
Lisa, I went to sleep that night(I just couldn't stay up and chat any longer) worried about you and your family and was so happy to find in the morning that the hurricane had been downgraded. Whew!! that was a close one!!
yes, suzie, too close for comfort! Sure was a wake up call for us. We will have to have a plan for next year. There is no way I want to stay here if a #4 storm comes our way. Thank you for thinking of us.
Lisa, I just praise God for the change in the storm! Am very happy that your damage was minimal. Doris
thank you Doris :-)
Lisa...Get yer MSN on!
Lisa, I couldn't get any news during the critical hours, and it was your family I worried about the most. I love that little town, think I might have mentioned before, and you are just the neatest person, so it was with great concern that I watched the news when I could. I am so relieved to learn that your damage was minimal. My heart goes out to you and all the people who were forced to wait through the long night, not knowing what would be left when the storm stopped. Blessings, my friend.
Thank you for you kind words Aimee. Things are finally back to normal here.
Lisa; Is there ever such a thing as 'normal'? hehe.....Sure isn't around here.
So glad that you made it okay through that storm tho. Prayers where with you and everyone during that time.
lol Coco! Thanks also for your thoughts and prayers.
