You were here, Mark? Really?! Where did you go? Did you see any of the sights or take in some of the live local music? The music scene is rich with great talent. It all started with The Armadillo World Headquarters. I wish that was still around! Yeah, it's a pretty neat place, Austin. :) If you ever come back, you'll have to stop out here and let me take your picture with our Longhorns and another one in front of Willie Nelson's front gate! ROTF!

who is Willie Nelson LOL

there is a 50/50 chance that I will be in Austin next year.

While I was there I went to the ?kids museum, Congress Bridge (for the bats), Bracken Cave for the bats, ate at Tex-Mex eating houses, went to Lady Birds place, went to a huge book store

Cool! E-me then and we'll get together. The kid's museum ~ was it the Austin Nature Center? It's a bit of a hike up hill to it. There's a big pond they've kept as a natural ecosystem and a zoo of injured wild animals that are handicapped so can't be let out in the wild. Does that sound like it? Neat place! I love the glass beehive right inside the front door.

Ah, the Congress Bridge. Neat place, huh?! This past year they had a dilemma on the next main artery bridge to it's left ~ it needed widening really bad. One of the suggestions was to widen the Congress Bridge instead. The person who made that suggestion was almost tarred and feathered! We do love our bats. ;)

No fair Wingnut! You get Texas and Mark too! LOL His accent in person. Sigh.

Louisa, I don't think you sound prim and proper :D Bit of all right. Especially the CVS is the chemist. My old southern accent popped right out when I was talking with you. Felt good to have it back. Accents were really frowned on in US for a while in the 80's, and I worked hard to get rid of mine. Just like an old shoe to have it back for a while :D Shoe? Shoe? No way, not his kind of Southern accent, not by a long shot!

Evert, most of what you described fit Ohio too! The ones Wingnut left out are:

7. You see a student sit in the front row and think "teachers pet!"

23. You refuse to wear a coat, even in -10F because "but Mom, it isn't cold out (chatter chatter)

37. "National holiday" is President's Day Sale! Columbus Day Sale! Veteran's Day Sale! Memorial Day Sale!

44. 50F in the summer is to wear sweat clothes; 50F in the winter is to wear shorts!

48. You really really understand why everyone moves away somewhere warm when they retire.
