Chat???

I don't seem to see " the chatroom will be open in _ hours and _ minutes"..........is there not going to be a chat tomight?

I got rid of the countdown (temporarily or permanently, I'm not sure) but the chat -will- be open tonight, promptly at 7:00pm EDT.

I like the countdown, too. It's kind of festive.

I just got new system software and am trying to figure out if anything in my settings has changed. Is the Chat countdown still turned off on DG, or is it just my screen not showing it (if that's even possible -- you can see what a computer pro I am)? Please advise.

Thank you, Dave. I can appreciate how that running countdown would be a drain on server resources. Just wondered if it was my computer. I appreciate your prompt reassurance on that score.

I miss the Chat reminder!! I'm sure the Newbies will have a hard time finding out about it!! Or are you just going to put the "Happy Chatting Faces up maybe at 6:00???

I just miss it completely now. It used to be great to see the reminder. Because it comes at noon and midnight our time, i'm just not normally around. Knowing in advance i could make the effort to be around when possible

Twin, the chats are from 7-10 AM EST on Thursdays, and 7-10 PM EST on Tuesdays. When the chats are occuring, you will see a graphic of two yellow fellows gabbing underneath the DG logo on the right-hand side of your screen. Just click on the little guys, and you will be taken to the chat room.

Thanks Dave. It's more than just a reminder, it seems all part of the friendly community atmosphere to me.

dave, maybe instead of a countdown reminder that is a drain on the system, what about a reminder "Chat opens at 7EST tonight?"
That seems to say it all, and wouldn't be too hard on the resources, right???

well, I'm liable to delete an email and still forget!!! :)
but just a note on the side where the countdown was, and it doesn't have to countdown. wouldn't that work? and not be so hard on the resources?

The countdown was nice, time notes wouldn't really work for us Europeans.

If it's going to be anything, it'll be the countdown because, well, it's cool.. :)

A good reason to have the count down: I'm at my volunteer job (Coronado National Monument) and am on thier computer they let us play on...one of the personnel came by and saw the count down, mentioned it, and gave me an opening to expound on the virtures of DG!! Jo
