While at the post office I was told they'll provide boxes for mailing. Apparently our local post office will only have the one size box in stock and the larger size can be ordered on-line and delivered to my home. Does anyone know where this website is? I prefer the larger boxes. Thank you. "T"
Boxes from US Postal Service
get labels and tape while you're there!
Yeah, it's a great deal. I don't feel so bad about springing for Priority Mail postage knowing I got all the supplies for free, and delivered to my door to boot. Way cool. :)
That's where I get my Priority Mail boxes...
A great service, delivered right to your door,
no charge! ;-)
Wow, great news! Didn't know about this.
Thanks folks!
Thank you bunches!
Just ordered!!! Thanks!

I can't get it to accept my zip. I can put in the 5 numbers or add the other 4 numbers, still won't take it.
Thanks a bunch! Just ordered!
lizh, sometimes it does that, try again later.
Thanks Calla.
WARNING: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ORDER ANYTHING FROM THIS SITE AFTER HAVING 2 CUPS OF COFFEE OR ANY OTHER MEANS OF CAFFEINE IN YOUR SYSTEM.....GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!
What happened???
it was the most annoying thing besides a Wal-Mart check out line. I finally gave up after about an hour's time. I don't know if my boxes are being shipped or not. I kept getting the run around, redirected browsers..etc..then the final blow was something saying there was a tech. problem. GRRRR...
I cant resist adding a postal story of my own. Years ago, the USPO offered the service of SENDING the stamps you needed if you filled out a form and sent them a check. I ordered about 100 bucks worth. Six weeks later, no delivery. I call, I write..., another six weeks go by..., no stamps. The postal gods were less than sympathetic. Anyway, I leave for Europe to work. I come home a month later and find certified delivery attempt cards in my mail box. I go to the post office (the very thing I was trying to avoid), to get whatever it was. The woman behind the bullet proof window tells me it has been returned to sender because I did not pick it up. Of course, it was the ordered stamps. Oh, when the USPO sent me a refund six months later, they deducted an "order cancellation fee" of five dollars.
as a former usps employee, all I can say is 'that figures, lol' !!
LOL that happened to me one time that the site gave me the runaround and then when the packages came, I got two of each that I had ordered one of, two times. LOL I have supplies that I give to the local PO now. They like me.
I learned that some other post offices get more and better supplies than G'twn. does. So when I go into those areas, I try to remember to pick up the things they have that I can't get here. If I happen to mail them from G'twn., they look at the nice sizes and shapes of boxes and ask where I got them. But I don't like to use the local office at all, so that doesn't happen often. I guess I could have shared my abundance with them.
I have ordered boxex from this site probably about a month agao or so and still haven't received them. You think I should reorder or wait a little longer? Being I don't drive, ordering this way sure makes it easier, but then if you don't receive your order, what good is it?
They send a form now for you to sign stating that you will use the boxes and supplies ONLY to mail priority, express or what ever they are specified for. CoCo did they send the form to you? I had to sign it and send it in to get the last order of boxes.
poppy, I didn't send in the last form I got until I needed more boxes! they sent the new boxes anyway, and a new form a day or so later. then yesterday I got an extra box of boxes:) CoCo, I'd try ordering again, I get mine really quick.
My boxes came pretty quick. The mail lady pulled up in my driveway and put the packages on my porch(I did go out to help her)I commented on how nice it was to get the stuff free and she asked what it was.I told her and she said,"I work there and didn't know that" I did receive a form to sign also, but it arrived several days after the boxes came.
my local postmaster is so jealous, she can't even get the big priority/express boxes, I can get anything. Her customers really want them.
My boxes did come in. I ordered 100 tube boxes and 75 other boxes, rolls of tape and sticker labels. It only took a couple of days after my run around at the site, I suppose I did order them after all..lol. The letter that poppysue is talking about came in after the boxes were sent to me. I had to sign it and send it back. I hope I am well stocked for a long time.
The boxes come on big pallets to the POs. Most offices don't have room to store them - that's why they only have a couple os sizes available.
The last order I did .... I think I odered 3 sizes plus some labels. I got one case of boxes right away - I think the longs ones. Then I got the form to fill out about a week later. I sent that in and got the the other two box sizes about a week after that.
And then... 5 or 6 weeks after I had ordered - I got the labels. Of course it was 3 weeks too late for me to use them for what I wanted!
never thought of the storage space poppy. it's a shame, cause there's many small businesses around here, and she could make some money off the boxes, but ... :) thank heavens we get them for free!!
it is almost two weeks that I haven't get the boxes. etc.!!!! Still waiting....
I just this minute ordered some. We'll see what happens. (Crossing my fingers.)
I have not ordered any in a while, but I don't remember having to sign and send in anything. I may have, though, and just forgotten about it. That's quite possible, LOL! I tell ya, those labels they send really stick to the boxes nicely, don't they? Does anyone else thing that PM tape smells funky, like cotton candy or something?
tiG---I agree with your "that figures" response. I am a current employee of the USPS.....hoping someday I can say "FORMER". I've been a "sub" for 4 yrs....about to go "regular" any day, but so ready to get out of there!
My local PO is staffed by friends (and fellow gardeners), and the Asst Post Master who does the ordering will get me anything I ask for, if I give him enough lead time. But it is a huge delivery area, and there is even a sub-station a few blocks away, so they have plenty of storage space.
I can't see where I can get the 9" x ? "(large) other one I can get is 8" x 5"(small), and larger than 12" x 14". The only 2 they show, I can get here at out P.O..???HELP
