cherishlife, I think she wants to be able to store the rice in the bowl, as well as cook in it. That's a lot more practical than my transfer to lidded bowls method! Maybe that's why her lovely new kitchen looks so good, and mine looks like it was hit by a mortar attack!
Personal ad from my Pyrex Bowl
True, I just skimmed through the thread and didn't realize she was cooking without the lid. My kitchen kind of looks like that too. I need to get off here and take care of the dishes.
I have some dish accessories that are probably valuable to someone else. I have two square pyrex lids that are probably soulmates for some dishes somewhere.
Heres an ebay site that has tons of lids..

MsJen - if you'll put a space between your "...." and the hyperlink it should work.
I spent a few hours the other nite on ebay looking for a lid.....so don't feel bad! LOL
Might be cheaper just to buy a new bowl? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2759&item=3751435096&tc=photo
6.45 for the lid and 4. 85 for postage..
Well, I know where to find one but I'm not planning on going to Branson for awhile. The Corningware store in the Red Roof mall in Branson, MO has all the pieces separate and very cheap. I got two sets of these bowls, large medium and small with lids for less than $20.00 a few years back. I think the lids were somewhere around $2.00 or $3.00 each, depending on size. These are absolutely my favorite bowls and I totally understand the need for the lid. They are perfect for stacking things on top of in the fridge. I have lost the lid to one of my small bowls and I really miss it. I keep looking for it, can't understand how on earth I lost it, but I did. If I ever go that direction or have a friend going that direction, I'll try to get both of us taken care of, if you haven't found one by then.
Hey, GW... I have that same bowl! Got it at a yard sale last year, no lid. But it's a lovely bowl and I love it.
this is great thread to read! LOL
She is a vision of loveliness in her fluted skirt. The sheer fabric is quite transparent and the color changes with the accessories she wears. She enjoys white rice but looks equally charming with an underlayer of peach or berry. To complete her ensemble she is looking for the perfect hat. Something tasteful that fits well.
Exactly! You guys are too much!
She has been 2 years without a hat? Poor thing.
Would she consider moving to AZ? I think she is just lovely...and would look great filled with fruit! Jo
Due to her rather delicate constitution (despite her considerable heft - don't tell her I said that) she prefers to remain here. She appreciates the thought, however!
Hey, girl!
I have those lids and don't use them much. I will send you a cozy one.
Laaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Arlene, my bowlette thanks you. She can't wait to model. :)
Gardenwife, do you suppose her rim may have spread after all these years of being unrestrained? Can you hope for a good fit?
Arlene to the rescue!! I hope that it will not end this thread...we must see if they are "compatable"! Jo
I want wedding pictures!!!!!!
LOL...what a hoot! Does Emma get to be flower girl?
I think there should be a prenup agreement... it could get ugly if they break up with a bowl full of rice.
If there is a wedding-Who will throw the Rice??????
Ohhh, I think Jo would hurl it. !!
LOL!
...or barf it up.....LOL Jo
Hey - I just stumbled on this thread. There used to be a lid lady at a flea market we went to, but haven't seen her for quite a while. St Vincent and Salvation Army always have loose lids.
And speaking of rice cookers: with Thanksgiving coming up, has anyone used their rice cooker to cook sweet potatoes? They come out absolutely perfect and shuts off when done. One less pot on the stove. That's all we use our rice cooker for. Ann still cooks rice on the stove. Same pot she's used for 40 years. Harold
Hey, Harold... totally new concept! and right in time for Thanksgiving!
Hi Harold...since I "avoid" rice...but love Sweet Potatoes...that is a great idea. Thanks! Jo
RR, George Bush Sr didn't like broccoli, and looks what happened... only one term! You'd better slather a little sweet potato on spoonful of rice and chug it down. You may want to run for office some day! LOL! (Ooops! No political responses, please!)
GW.. I saw a set of Pyrex bowls at Walmart yesteday and thought about you! LOL I saw the lid. I said GW needed that. LOL.. It come 3 different size bowls with three lids in a box. It cost $ 9 something.
LOL, I know the prices are low at Wal-Mart! I don't really need more bowls, though, and can't see buying three of 'em just for a lid. Anyway, she'd feel outmoded and frumpy if I did. ;)
Hey, GW, what about those little shower-cap-like covers that ziplock puts out?... maybe that's pretty frumpy, too.
She'd rather die. Anyway, they're not air-tight enough for the more odiferous board.
LOL!
She exclaimed, "Well, really, darling....Would you want to be seen in one?"
LOL! Point well-taken!
Maybe a little lace around the edges to soften that "plastic look"?
Is that the Dowry to Find a Mate in the Background of the Picture.
a Silver Coffee Carafe...and the Bottle of House Beverage...
For the Honeymoon?
That Should Get Things Cook'in!
